The Latest Cast Additions
As the livestream presses on, the camera revealed two more director’s chairs, each bearing the name of a returning MCU star:
- Winston Duke, known for his powerful portrayal of M’Baku, the leader of Wakanda’s Jabari Tribe. Duke first brought M’Baku to life in Black Panther (2018), earning critical acclaim for his performance, with Wesley Morris of The New York Times naming it one of the best of that year, describing him as “funny, shameless, and imposing.” Duke reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), solidifying M’Baku as a fan-favorite character. His chair in the livestream confirms his return for Avengers: Doomsday, likely bringing Wakanda’s strength to the fight against Doctor Doom. Fans are eager to see how M’Baku will interact with the new Avengers team, especially alongside Letitia Wright’s Shuri, the current Black Panther.
- Hannah John-Kamen, who plays Ava Starr, aka Ghost, in the MCU. John-Kamen debuted as the complex anti-hero in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and is set to reprise the role in the upcoming Thunderbolts film. Her casting as Ghost came with high praise, notably after director Peyton Reed received a letter of endorsement from Steven Spielberg, who had worked with John-Kamen on Ready Player One. Ghost’s quantum-based abilities and morally gray persona make her a unique addition to the Avengers: Doomsday roster, and her chair in the livestream has sparked excitement about how her powers might factor into the battle against Doctor Doom. Fans are particularly intrigued by the potential for Ghost to team up with Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, given their shared history.
