According to Deadline’s detailed report, Elle will delve into the experiences that shaped Elle Woods into the bubbly, determined woman fans know and love. Created by Laura Kittrell, who previously worked on High School and Insecure, the series is a collaboration between Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios. Scott’s character, Wyatt, was originally portrayed by James Read in the Legally Blonde film, where he and his wife were seen discouraging Elle from pursuing her Harvard dreams. In the prequel, Scott will star as a series regular, acting alongside Lexi Minetree, who plays the teenage Elle, and June Diane Raphael, cast as Elle’s mother, Eva.
Tom Everett Scott brings a wealth of experience to the role, having recently appeared in Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty for its first two seasons. His breakout role came in 1996 as drummer Guy Patterson in Tom Hanks’ directorial debut, That Thing You Do!, and he has since starred in films like Clouds and Finding You. His addition to Elle is expected to bring depth to the family dynamics that influence Elle’s journey, offering fans a fresh perspective on her upbringing.
Filming for Elle began in March 2025, as Witherspoon previously shared, with a premiere expected later in the year on Prime Video. The series has already generated excitement for its nostalgic connection to the Legally Blonde franchise, and Scott’s casting adds to the anticipation. As the show prepares to introduce a new generation to Elle Woods’ origins, fans are eager to see how this prequel will capture the charm and wit of the beloved character.
