Who doesn’t love to watch American series? That is if you have binge-watched all the episodes of The Tick, you’d totally fall hard and keep wanting for more. But unfortunately, we have bad news regarding The Tick season 3.
The Tick is an American television series based on a comic book character and storyline, “The Tick” just got cancelled by the team of its original network and fans are disappointed. The show, with its launch, gained huge popularity immediately and fans were expecting another set of seasons. The series was based on cartoonist Ben Edlund’s comic book character of the same name.
The humorous show was originally made for Amazon video and its first season was released in 2016. After that, an announcement for season 2 was made by the makers via trailers and tweets in the year 2019. Additionally, at the same time, another announcement for the third season was also made which got cancelled just this year, which is 2021. But after seeing the wait and disappointment in fans, the makers might give it a second thought that’s what we hope.
The tick season 3: Release Date
Sadly, a recent announcement by the show’s networking team states that a cancellation has been made so there won’t be a release date.
The tick season 2 which was the final outing was premiered on April 5, 2019. The announcement of the launch of the new season was given in 2019. However, Amazon have decided not to renew the show for another season run and now, the show stands cancelled. What could be the reason? Although no official statement has been disclosed regarding the sudden cancellation, we assume that it might have to do with declining viewership and ratings.
The only thing that is sure of happening is no further release of the show. It has been said by certain reports that the creator Ben had an intention of collaborating the series with some other streaming networks but as he couldn’t find any, the moment he decided on Amazon itself, all the contracts expired. This led to an official and final ending of the series.

Ben Edlund’s superhero comedy The Tick is based on his and David W. Mack’s comic book characters of the same name. Peter Serafinowicz plays Arthur, The Tick, and Gryphon Newman plays Michael Newman, Arthur’s sidekick.
Arthur and Michael defend Terrorville against adversaries, including The Terror (Jackie Earle Haley), Overkill (Scott Speiser), and The Red Scare (Lizzy Caplan). The series is recognized for its absurdist humor, over-the-top action, and self-awareness.
Fox developed The Tick as a pilot in 2006, but it was never picked up. Amazon Prime Video licensed the series in 2016, premiering it on August 25. Amazon Prime Video ended the two-season series in May 2019.
Regarding the season 3 renewal, Ben Edlund wants to return the show for a third season, but he hasn’t found a new home yet. Edlund told SYFY WIRE in 2021, “I want the show to continue because I think it has a lot of life left. Networks and streaming providers decide whether to risk it.”

The show’s main characters were Peter Serafinowicz as the tick who plays the role of the lead protagonist. Griffin Newman plays the role of Arthur Everest, Valorie Curry as Dot Everest, Brendan Hines as superman, Yara Martinez as Miss Lint or Janet, Scott Speiser Overkill or Esteban and Jackie Earle Haley as the terror. The main characters are supported by the presence of strong supporting actors who made the show enjoyable.

The tick follows the story of an invulnerable superhero in a blue tick suit who lives in the city. Tick helps in fighting crime and discovers a mysterious figure lingering behind the city’s underworld. He makes friends with a nervous and mild-mannered young man named Arthur, who becomes his sidekick. Later on, the duo realizes that a long-dead supervillain called the terror is alive and operates in the city’s underworld. The story unfolds in a place in a world where superheroes have resided for many years. In the same place, nervous accountant Arthur Everest and a strange blue superhero named the tick to emerge. Together they begin an adventure filled with the fighting of crazy supervillains, dangerous vigilantes, and freakish superheroes. The tick kept the audience intrigued with its gripping storyline and also made them laugh. The series saw the rise of a new superhero from the walks of the common man. The journey of tick showcases his realization of his powers and his journey towards becoming a superhero. The journey also covers how tick tackles the obstacles coming his way and how he fights against the crime. From tick becoming a superhero to getting Arthur as his sidekick, the story has a lot to tell The new series would showcase the new adventures of Tick and Arthur. Will Arthur and tick be able to find and fight with the supervillain called the terror. All mysteries would be solved with the release of season 8.
