All About The Son Season!

The Son is an American western drama TV series. Based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Philipp Meyer, the series debuted on April 8, 2017.

It follows the lives of Powerful cattle baron and prospective oilman Eli McCullough, who was kidnapped at the age of 13.

The series stars Pierce Brosnan, Henry Garrett, Zahn McClarnon, Jess Weixler, Paola Núñez, Elizabeth Frances, Sydney Lucas, Jacob Lofland, David Wilson Barnes, and James Parks as lead cast members.

Is The Son Season 3 Cancelled?

Season 2 of the show ended with a cliffhanger. The son is still alive and has been given to a new family. Accordingly, there will undoubtedly be a third season of The Son.

The first season covered the first half of the novel, while the second season covered the second half. As a result, there is no mention of the third season.

“Have ideas… not ready to talk about them yet,” showrunner Meyer said after The Son season 3 was canceled!

At the time of this writing, neither the cast nor the producers have announced the renewal of The Son Season 3. Unfortunately, AMC canceled the show after its second season in 2019.

There is no word on a renewal or any continuance of the show, which fans have been yearning for. However, Philipp Meyer, the show’s creator, has expressed interest in returning to The Son.

Meyer claimed in a 2022 interview that he had “some ideas” for a third season but was “not ready to talk about them yet.” He also indicated he was “open to” a movie or spin-off series to extend the story.

While a third season of The Son is not confirmed, there is hope that the McCullough family’s narrative may continue in a spin-off series. We shall keep this space updated with all the latest news and information; please stay connected with us until then!

What happened at the end of The Son season 2?

The second season of The Son takes place years after the first. Pete McCullough (Henry Garrett), who helped María García (Paola Núñez) cross the border, has returned to Texas after being sent to a Mexican chain gang. Meanwhile, the family patriarch, Eli McCullough (Pierce Brosnan) struggles to manage a burgeoning business. He is also defending his family from the Comanches and the corrupt Texas government.

Texas gets oil in the second season, which the McCulloughs face. Greed, corruption, and bloodshed accompany the oil boom. The McCulloughs must face their previous sins. Eli must own his role in numerous Comanche deaths. Pete struggles with the guilt of leaving María in Mexico. Eli’s wife, Jeannie McCullough (Lois Smith), must accept her role in her son’s death.

The McCulloughs must cooperate throughout the season to safeguard their family and business. Also, they must forgive themselves for past misdeeds. These are The Son Season 2’s main events:

  • After leaving a Mexican chain gang, Pete McCullough returns to Texas.
  • Eli McCullough must manage a rising empire and defend his family from threats.
  • Texas oil arrivals also challenge the McCulloughs.
  • The McCulloughs must face their sins.
  • The McCulloughs must cooperate to preserve their family and empire.

The Son Season 3 Release Date?

There are two seasons and a total of 20 episodes in this series. The first episode was released on April 8, 2017, while Season 2 was released on April 27, 2019. Both the chapters encompass ten episodes, each ranging from 42-49 minutes.

So far, there has been no official announcement regarding part 3. However, as per the leaks and rumours, The Son season 3 is unlikely to broadcast until late 2022 at the earliest, and maybe as late as 2023 at the latest.

The Son Season 3 Cast?

If we talk about the star cast of The Son Season 3, it hasn’t been confirmed by AMC yet. But we can undoubtedly expect the arrival of some lead characters for sure. Here are they:

  • Pierce Brosnan as Eli McCullough, a Texas cattle baron who takes an interest in oil.
  • Jacob Lofland as young Eli (known to the Comanche as Tiehteti Taboo.
  • Henry Garrett as Pete McCullough, Eli’s youngest son.
  • Zahn McClarnon as Toshaway, a Comanche tribal chief who views young Eli as a son.
  • Jess Weixler as Sally McCullough, Pete’s wife
  • Paola Núñez as María García, Pete’s childhood friend who becomes complicit in some of the escalating violence in South Texas
  • Elizabeth Frances as Prairie Flower
  • Sydney Lucas is Jennie McCullough, Eli’s granddaughter and Pete’s daughter, who becomes a key figure in the family business.
  • Lois Smith as Jeannie at age 85
  • David Wilson Barnes as Phineas.

The Son Season 3 Plot?

The main narrative of ‘The Son’ revolves around Eli’s personal life and his family. They struggle to protect their homelands. It chronicles the household business and differentiates it from America’s climb to a superpower reputation. Considering the series is based on a novel, as the tale proceeds, we see some typical cliches emerge. Likewise, we might expect season 3 of the series to pick up the same storyline.
