The promoted executives are Sarah Belgrad, who has been elevated to senior vice president of development, Lauren Speed, now vice president of production, and Chris Dilorio, who steps into the role of executive vice president of strategy and operations. These moves come as Shondaland continues to thrive under its exclusive partnership with Netflix, producing global sensations like Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and the upcoming series The Residence. The company, founded by Shonda Rhimes, has also diversified its portfolio with ventures into audio, digital content, and editorial through Shondaland.com.
Sarah Belgrad, previously a development executive, played a pivotal role in shaping projects like Inventing Anna. In her new position, she will oversee the development of Shondaland’s scripted and unscripted content, working closely with chief content officer Alison Eakle. Lauren Speed, who has been instrumental in managing production logistics for the company’s sprawling slate, will now lead production efforts, ensuring seamless execution across Shondaland’s growing roster of projects. Meanwhile, Chris Dilorio, who joined Shondaland in 2016 and was named chief marketing officer in 2022, will expand his oversight to include strategic planning and operations, focusing on brand partnerships and new business opportunities.
Shonda Rhimes, CEO of Shondaland, praised the trio for their contributions, stating, “Sarah, Lauren, and Chris have been integral to our success, bringing creativity, vision, and operational excellence to everything they do. These promotions reflect our commitment to fostering talent as we continue to grow.” The company’s president, Megha Tolia, added that the leadership changes position Shondaland to explore new storytelling avenues, including potential expansions into film and international markets.
