After a phenomenal first season, Carnival Row is returning with a second season but with a few changes. The previous season’s showrunner Marc Guggenheim is replaced by Erik Oleson as the new showrunner, who has also written the first episode for the upcoming season. Series co-showrunner Travis Beacham won’t be returning as well due to inventive differences. So it’s likely the upcoming season will be a whole lot different compared to the first season. Without further ado, here’s what we know about season 2 of Carnival Row.

Carnival Row Season 2 Release Date: When Is It?

Back in September 2021, star Orland Bloom bid adieu to his role, Philo, ascertaining that filming for season 2 has ended, but it’s not known if the series is over for good or if the series will return with the third season.

Coming back to the release date, Amazon Prime Video is yet to announce the official air date for season 2 of Carnival Row. But as confirmed by Bloom, filming has wrapped so it’s expected that new episodes will arrive by Autumn 2022, and just like the first season, the second season will have eight episodes.

The Cast of Carnival Row Season 2: Who’s Likely to Return?

Almost all the central characters from the first season are anticipated to return in the upcoming season including–

  • Orlando Bloom in the role of Rycroft Philostrate
  • Cara Delevingne will return as Vignette Stonemoss
  • Simon McBurney will reprise his role as Runyon Millworthy
  • David Gyasi will be back as Agreus Astrayon
  • Tamzin Merchant will play the role of Imogen Spurnrose
  • Andrew Gower will portray Ezra Spurnrose
  • Karla Crome will be playing Tourmaline Larou
  • Arty Froushan in the role of Jonah Breakspear
  • Caroline Ford will return as Sophie Longerbane

Additionally, Jamie Harris has been promoted to a regular cast and he’ll return to play his character, Sergeant Dombey. New cast members joining in season 2 of Carnival Row are: Alice Krige, Ariyon Bakare, Marve Dermody. It is likely that James Beymont and Waj Ali will return as well.

Carnival Row Season 2 Plot: What To Expect?

Currently, the exact plot details are unclear. Amazon Prime Video is yet to reveal the official premise for the second season of Carnival Row. However, it is expected that the story would continue from where the first season ended. The next chapter will explore more into segregation as witnessed in the previous season. In the final episode, the government issued a segregation scheme to separate the mythical creatures from mankind. Realizing that Vignette would be detached from him, Philo came forward and disclosed that he too is a half magical kind so he chose to join her.

Star Tazmin Merchant, who portrays Imogen, dropped hints on what to expect in season 2 for Agreus and her character.

“Imogen and Agreus get on the ship at the end of season 1, and everything is grand for the first five minutes of season 2,” she revealed to EW. “And then things go very badly wrong for them.”

In season 2 it’s most likely that the couple will play an important part in taking on an adventurous path, but they will meet some challenges along the way.

Where To Watch Carnival Row Season 2?

Carnival Season 2 will be dropped on Amazon Prime Video.
