Plastic Memories Season 2: Release Date, Cast & Plot

Plastic Memories is a multiple-genre series that made its debut in April 2018. Written by Naotaka Hayashi, directed by Yoshiyuki Fujiwara, and produced by Doga Kobo, the series ran for 12 episodes till 28 June 2018 in Japan. Since its last episode, fans are awaiting the news of its renewal. But unfortunately, the show’s creators have not confirmed whether there will be a Plastic Memories Season 2 or not for the fans. Plastic Memories Plot

The first part of Plastic Memories follows the story of an eighteen-year-old boy, Tsukasa Mizugaki, who miserably flunks his college entrance exam. Yet he does not squander time in grieving about it, he decides to take up a job. Using his father’s connections, the boy lands up a job at Terminal Services, a division of SAI Corporations, the world-famous android manufacturers. Androids are robots that closely resemble human beings in more ways than one. They possess human memory and emotions as well. Androids and human beings co-exist in the near future, and humans are highly reliant on these artificial beings to accomplish their everyday works. However, it is the launch of Griftia by SIA Corporations that create havoc in the futuristic world. Griftia is the latest innovation in the field of robots, which can outdo the other Androids.

But there is a major issue with Griftia, they cannot live forever. They have a pre-determined life expectancy, following which they would turn into what they call wanderers. Wanderers pose an immediate threat to society through their violent behavior and internal circuit breakdown which fails to even identify their real owners. Terminal Services comes into the picture to retrieve these human-like bodies and delete their memories before they lose their mental and emotional stability. The organization comprises teams- a spotter and marksmen, meaning a human being and an Android respectively to accomplish the assigned tasks. It is then that Tsukasa meets Isla, a Giftia, to perform the works. Giftia’s failure to convince Chiru to give up Nina, the robot, raises several questions in the young protagonist’s mind. Isla’s powers are persistently diminishing, though Tsukasa has no clue about it. The story ends with the two Terminal Services employees developing feelings for each other. It would be exciting to witness how the story’s main characters go further considering that Isla does not have much time to spare. If season two comes, we can expect the love drama setting in a new direction and enthralling the audience.

When would Plastic Memories return for Season 2?

Plastic Memories provide a wholesome anime experience to its fans. Its compelling storyline and interesting characterization keep the audience hooked till its last episode. To be honest, we do not see a renewal coming any soon. Yet the best guess is that the creators will confirm Plastic Memories Season 2 by the end of 2022 or early 2023. Hoping that they have plans for renewal.
