Created by Erica Saleh, One of Us Is Lying is an American mystery TV series. It is based on the 2017 novel of the same name – by Karen M. McManus. The series follows five high school students who enter detention. However, one of them died under suspicious circumstances. Soon an investigation ensued.
One Of Us Is Lying premiered on Peacock on 7th October 2021. It acquired a positive response from both viewers and critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series secured an 89% tomatometer rating. While on imdb, it received an average rating of 7 out of 10. So far there are two seasons of the series.

Will there be a season 3 of One Of Us Is Lying?
As of December 2022, Netflix is yet to renew One Of Us Is Lying for season 3. The series originally aired on NBC Universal’s US streaming service Peacock – back in October 2021. Four months later, it dropped on Netflix internationally in February 2022.
However, going by the ratings and reviews of the previous two seasons, we’re certain that season 3 will receive the greenlight. The plot ended with a lot of loose ends, and so, season 3 shall be renewed. Let’s await more official information from the makers. Until then, stay connected with us!

As the show hasn’t been renewed for season 3, there’s no release date for now. However, we speculate the show’s third season will air by 2023. Considering the previous release schedule, season 3 might premiere by June of 2023. If the makers release any formal updates, we will post it here. Stay tuned!
What to expect from the plot of One Of Us Is Lying season three?
The official Peacock synopsis reads, “Following the heart-pounding conclusion of Season One, the Bayview Four have a very deadly secret. In season two we’ll see just how far they’ll go to protect their secret, themselves, and each other.”
In a new interview with ET Online, executive producer Erica Saleh opened up about the season two finale, and why things ended the way they did. “We set up a really big mystery at the end of season one that really let people know what questions to be asking going into season two,” she explained.
“And at the end of season two, there are maybe even more questions. What happened at graduation? But also what secret does Fiona know about Jake and what might Cole have done to protect that secret? How is high school going to end for these kids?”
Does that set up the potential for more? Certainly looks like it!
What will happen in the third season of One of Us Is Lying?
A violent cliffhanger is a staple of One of Us Is Lying, and its safe to say that season two was no exception.
The second season of the series One Of Us Is Lying picks up right after Jake’s murder when the gang starts getting threatening texts from someone going by the handle “Simon Says” and claiming to know who shot Jake – AND spoiler: it was Addy!
The Bayview Four finally learned that the texts were being sent by new student Fiona, who they later learn had met Jake in recovery. It emerges apparent that Fiona and Jake had a covert relationship and that Jake had enlisted her assistance in the murder of Simon.
They succeeded in accusing Fiona of killing Jake, and she is then jailed – however, we see that Jake’s brother Cole visits her and she lets Jake’s involvement in rehab slip. Later, she tells him about the video that shows the Murder club as they try to dispose of his body.
After being poisoned, Fiona passes away in her cell.
As the show’s second season comes to a conclusion, The Murder Club makes an effort to go on with their lives, and Nate gives Bronwyn a necklace that reads “Stay,” but a flashback to graduation day shows they’re not yet out of the woods.
Before the credits roll, Bronwyn’s necklace is found and brought in as evidence, and the school is a bloody murder scene. SO many inquiries. Argh!
How did the graduation go? What secret about Jake does Fiona know, and what could Cole have done to keep it hidden? How will The Bayview Four finish high school?
We will pray to the Peacock/Netflix gods for a cancellation reversal and renewal because only time and season three will tell.
Who should we add to our list of suspects in light of Fiona’s death and the graduation crime scene?
Going into season three, “Cole” should be someone we have many unanswered questions about, according to Saleh, who spoke to Entertainment Tonight.
We’ll see how far Cole will go to keep Jake’s secret a secret, but I think it’s evident that whatever Jake’s secret is, Cole truly wants to keep it that way. As a result, we’ll investigate the question of Jake’s secret and any potential cover-up actions Cole may have taken.
Additional flash-forwards are to be expected.
According to Saleh (via TVLine), the goal is to build up to the flash-forward so that we may see what occurs on graduation day and whether or not these students will graduate from high school unscathed.
“It’s too soon to say, but I do appreciate the notion that flashbacks were such a significant part of the storytelling in season one. In season two, most of the action occurs in the present. Working towards a season when we have flash-forwards feels extremely interesting thematically. However, everything would be visible if and when we entered the [writers’] room.
