Netflix has announced the upcoming premiere of “Man vs Baby,” a four-episode comedy series starring Rowan Atkinson, set to launch globally on December 11, 2025. In “Man vs Baby,” Trevor has left the high-stress world of housesitting behind after his disastrous encounter with a bee in a luxurious mansion. Seeking tranquility, he takes on a role as a school caretaker. However, a tempting offer to oversee a high-end London penthouse over Christmas pulls him back into trouble. On the last day of the school term, the baby cast as Jesus in the nativity play is left unclaimed, forcing Trevor to juggle property management with impromptu babysitting. As he navigates burping the baby and protecting the opulent space, the question arises: can he achieve a peaceful holiday, or will everything descend into pandemonium? Each episode runs about 30 minutes, focusing on Atkinson’s renowned physical comedy and expressive, minimal-dialogue style, akin to his iconic Mr. Bean.
The series features a supporting cast including Alana Bloor as Maddy, Trevor’s daughter, and Oriel Bathurst in a principal role. The infant, referred to as Baby Jesus, becomes the pint-sized source of mayhem. Behind the camera, Atkinson co-created and co-wrote the show with Will Davies. David Kerr directs, while Chris Clark and Davies serve as executive producers, with Kate Fasulo as series producer. Produced by HouseSitter Productions, filming took place in London following the project’s announcement in December 2024.
First-look images released by Netflix showcase Atkinson in various scenes: one depicts him cradling the baby amid holiday decorations, another captures his bewildered expression in chaotic festive settings. Photographed by Ana Blumenkron, these glimpses highlight the blend of Christmas cheer and comedic mishaps.
At 70, Atkinson continues to draw on his legacy from “Blackadder” and “Mr. Bean,” which has garnered billions of online views and influenced modern comedy. “Man vs Bee” achieved over 20 million viewing hours in its debut week, earning praise for Atkinson’s antics despite mixed reviews on the premise’s longevity. “Man vs Baby” refreshes the format with a human element and seasonal twist, positioning it as ideal family viewing during the holidays.
Netflix’s release aligns with its push for seasonal content, competing against platforms like Disney+ and Prime Video in a crowded streaming landscape. As 2025 wraps up with other UK productions like “Steve” starring Cillian Murphy, this series could help retain subscribers seeking lighthearted entertainment. Fans eagerly await the trailer, expected soon, to get a fuller taste of the yuletide antics.
