“Zootopia” was first released in 2016. The CGI animated movie was produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It was directed by George Stone and Byron Howard. The upcoming movie Zootopia 2 is a sequel to the previous movie.
Back in 2016, Zootopia raked up a staggering $1 billion at the box office. Soon afterwards, the movie bagged an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2017 Oscars. It has been over 5 years since the movie was released and fans have been curious to know whether there is a continuation to the sequel. Well, it’s no surprise if the Zootopia franchise comes out with another sequel after the massive success of the 2016 hit movie. But is the upcoming sequel in the works?
Few months ago, it was reported that Disney was rumoured to begin working on Zootopia for two more sequels. The story will follow Tommy Lister (Finnick) he said that during at a fan meet and greet:
“I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We are doing three of them… We are the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was 240 million. This one I’m hearing will be 300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising. But the movie made 2.6 billion, with merchandising and the box office.”

Zootopia 2: Release date
Zootopia 2 is a sequel to the 2016 film Zootopia and was rumored to be released on November 24, 2021. However, that did not happen and as of May 2022, there’s little to no information on when the sequel will come out or what the filmmakers are up to. But according to sources, the sequel will be launched only on March 2024.
In December 2020 during an Investor Day Presentation, Disney officially declared that the “Zootopia” story will continue as a television series on Disney+.
The series, “Zootopia+,” will land on the streaming platform in 2022. This series will be directed by Trent Correy, who previously worked as an animator on the film, and Josie Trinidad, who worked as a writer.

Zootopia 2: Plot details
Nick and Judy have both become cops in Zootopia to fight off crimes. However, one day Tadashi Gorki, a spy broke in to steal a secret sample with great powers from the factory. Meanwhile, Bellwether, the main villain from the first movie and a former mayor, has been set free from the prison. Her main motive is to take revenge on Nick and Judy who arrested her in the first place. Nick, Judy and Tadashi will be sent away to the capital city called Charmingtown. Here the trio will fight off the remaining bad guys and Bellwether and her underlings. But more surprises are waiting in the upcoming sequel, an ominous storyline is in the making. Ferb Dogfalusi has finished making an evil potion that turns herbivores into vicious predators. Will Judy, Nick and Tadashi be able to stop them? We will have to wait and see what happens only on March 2024.

The trailer for Zootipia is out not yet. It’ll probably take some time for fans to see the official trailer since the sequel is still in the early stages of development.
