As of now, there is no official update on whether or not the series will return with the seventh season of Madam Secretary. According to speculations, it seems like the series is over for good and have no plans to return in the future while others speculate that the showrunners are considering making a comeback but so far nothing has been confirmed.
Conceived by Barbara Hall alongside Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary who are also the executive producers, the show immediately gained public recognition and became one of the most popular Television series on the CBS network. It premiered on September 21, 2014, and has produced six seasons.
The show is heavily inspired by Barbara Hall’s real-life experiences as a high-ranking government bureaucrat in the United States Department of State. Madam Secretary is not only well known in the States but also has a widespread audience with over 100 million spectators across the globe.
So with such huge popularity, why are the showrunners or CBS still hasn’t renewed the series for a seventh installment? or is it because Madam Secretary has been terminated? Well, let’s find out.
Madam Secretary Season 7: Is it Cancelled?
Madam Secretary aired on CBS from 21 September 2014 to 8 December 2019 and has a total of 120 episodes. The network renewed the series for a sixth and final season in May 2019 which was launched on October 6, 2019. Hence, it is very much evident that there won’t be a seventh season of Madam Secretary in the future as the show has ended after the sixth season.
The Cast of Madam Secretary Season 7
Unfortunately, the series was cancelled and season 7 of Madam Secretary won’t be happening. However, the cast members deserve to be applauded for their outstanding performance in the series because there won’t be a ‘Madam Secretary’ without its incredible cast. The following actors who appeared in the series are-
- Téa Leoni played Elizabeth “Bess” Adams McCord
- Tim Daly played Henry McCord
- Patina Miller played Daisy Grant
- Geoffrey Arend portrayed Matt Mahoney
- Erich Bergen portrayed Blake Moran
- Željko Ivanek played Russell Jackson
- Bebe Neuwirth played Nadine Tolliver
- Wallis Currie-Wood played Stephanie “Stevie” McCord
- Katherine Herzer played Alison McCord
- Evan Roe portrayed Jason McCord
- Keith Carradine portrayed Conrad Dalton
- Sebastian Arcelus played Jay Whitman
- Sara Ramirez played Kat Sandoval
- Kevin Rahm played Michael “Mike B.” Barnow
It’s disappointing that the series came to an end so abruptly even though there are still plenty of things to be solved and explored. If CBS or the showrunners had no plans to renew the series from the start, it could have given some kind of an indication or a satisfying closure but I guess we’ll never have a chance to find out and must accept the fact that the show has wrapped.
