There is no denying that baseball has not been the number one sport in Canada. However, it is certainly growing in popularity, especially as they have a team that is capable of contending for the championship; the Toronto Blue Jays.

As Jose Bautista eloquently put it in a recent interview, the Toronto Blue Jays are on the path to something good:

For me, to play meaningful games in September and actually getting into October, that’s a success in itself. Getting past the early rounds, that’s even better. And these guys have done that already, so I just want them to do it again, and I think that they can accomplish it.”
Canada has been pushing the sport
We have seen baseball pushed as a sport in Canada for a number of years now. In fact, it was back in 2016 whereby Canada launched the “Summer’s Perfect Game” project, which was all about promoting baseball as the number one sport choice for Canadians during the summer months.
Since this project, the country has not looked back, doing a lot ot try and get more Canadians involved in the sport.
We saw that a $26 million baseball development action plan was implemented in Montreal. With this 10-year plan still underway today. We are seeing that great efforts are being undertaken to really push baseball in the country.
This has only been helped by the fact that the women’s and men’s national teams are doing so well.
A sport that is really increasing in popularity in Canada
There is no denying that the MLB is currently highly popular in Canada, and we only expect to see this trend continue. After all, the 10-year project is not finished yet, and so there are still plenty of exciting things in the pipeline when it comes to baseball in Canada.
