Who Killed Sara? is a Mexican thriller/crime drama series in the Spanish language. When the first season premiered, it gained massive popularity across the globe and became the most popular foreign language series with a whopping 55M subscribers that watched the debut season in its first 28th days.
The story follows Alex Guzman who spends eighteenth years in jail for a crime he never committed. After his release from the jail, he swore to catch the culprit who killed Sara, also his sister. Alex will take revenge against the Lazcano family for their wrongdoings, especially towards him.
Who Killed Sara? has two seasons so far which were released in March and May in 2021 respectively. It was also confirmed that there will be a third instalment of the series. Here’s what we know about the third season of Who Killed Sara?
Who Killed Sara? Season 3: Release Date
The second season of Who Killed Sara? was released on Netflix on May 19, 2021, with eight episodes in total and each episode, ran for 40-46 minutes.
As for the third instalment, it’s already confirmed that it’s on its way. The confirmation came at the finale of the second season wherein the post-credits section had the words “It’s Official: Another Season is Coming.” Although it’s been very much confirmed, there’s no official release date yet. Currently, there are no updates. It might be that the cast and crew are busy filming the upcoming season and keeping it from us. But if filming commences by this year, we’d expect the third season to arrive sometime in 2022.

We’d expect to see some of the major characters reprising their roles in the upcoming season including Manolo Cardona (as Álex Guzmán), Alejandro Nones (as Rodolfo Lazcano), Carolina Miranda (as Elisa Lazcano), Eugenio Siller (as José María Lazcano aka Chema), Ginés García Millán (as César Lazcano), Claudia Ramírez (as Mariana Lazcano), Fátima Molina (as Clara), Litzy (as Marifer), and Matías Novoa (as Nicandro Gómez).
New characters might also be introduced in the upcoming season to stir up the plot.
Who Killed Sara? Season 3 Plot: What can the story be about?
The upcoming season will pick up from where the second season left off which means all the cliffhangers will be cleared.
In the finale of the second season, Chema confessed that he is not guilty of the murders. Elisa sets ablaze at the casino owned by her family but gets trapped inside but fortunately, Alex saves her from the burning fire. The episode’s main focus is Marifer and her confessions. She finally admits that she was the one who cut the harness that resulted in Sara’s death. Meanwhile, Nicandro on the phone was talking to someone to whom he refers to as ‘Doctor.’ Their chat on the phone indicates that there’s something fishy and maybe had to do with Sara’s accidental death.
In the upcoming season, the secret conversation between Nicandro and the doctor might be revealed and also whether Marifier will make it out alive from the fire. We might also see Elisa confronting her family after the fire incident. Will Elisa and her family come to an understanding? There is so much to unveil in season 3 of Who Killed Sara?
