In 2015, Nina Dobrev who essays the character of Elena Gilbert took to Instagram to announce her exist from the series after its sixth installment. Julie Pec, the series creator was supportive of Dobrev’s decision as she understood that Dobrev wants to explore more, and spread her wings. Julie told that she supports Dobrev a thousandfold. However, Dobrev’s department from the show cannot be said to be the sole reason behind Julie’s decision to end the popular show.
When asked about it, Julie said that she had to consider a lot of things before deciding the fate of the series like logistics. And she thought it was the ideal time to pull the trigger. Julie added that when you tell stories to audiences, you must also know how to lead the characters to the conclusion otherwise there is no point in starting it in the first place. Additionally, reports claim that the decline in viewership number is also a reason why the showrunners could not continue the series. But that does not make us love it any less.
