Created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a comedy TV show The series stars some of the most talented actors, including Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane and Jane Krakowski.

The plot of the series follows Kimmy Schmidt (Kemper). He was held by Indiana doomsday cult leader. He’s called the Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm) for 15 years. He resolved to reject the “victim” label. And so, he decided not to return to the Midwest. With an abundance of optimism and a quirky circle of friends, Kimmy sets out to New York City.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt initially premiered on Netflix on March 6, 2015. The series has managed to acquire a good response from both audiences and critics. It secured an imdb rating of 7.6 out of 10. So far there are four seasons. But will there be a season 5 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? Here are all the updates!

Will Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt return for season 5?

Only the name says Unbreakable, but sadly enough, the series has been broken off 🙁

The makers have officially cancelled Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and it won’t be returning for season 5. However, in case the series gets picked up by another streaming platform or a spin-off occurs, we will update this space. Until then, stay connected with us!

In a more recent article, Kimmy Schmidt co-creator Robert Carlock also told Deadline that a movie would be “fun”

“I just think it would be really fun. We chose very specific ending places for everybody but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t stories to tell. I think there’s some really fun stuff that is still on the table for all of them, so it would be fun.”

“We definitely feel like these characters are fertile enough to revisit,” Tina Fey added, “and yeah, hopefully it will all work out.”

Will there be a spin-off series or movie?

Yes. The makers have spoken about a movie release. The co-creator Carlock said in an interview:

“We now have a shorter runway than we originally thought we would and don’t want to overstuff it and rush it,” he says. “And there are things that I think would be fun to hold off for kind of a big epic finale in feature form.”

“As to whether the movie would just be for Netflix or have a theatrical release, Carlock says, “I don’t know. That’s a good question. I think it’s probably just for the platform. Sometimes they do both but I don’t know if we’ve gotten down to crossing those T’s just yet.”
