True Lies on CBS will not get a second season. After just one season, the network has decided to scrap its reimagining of James Cameron’s popular action comedy from 1994. The announcement is made prior to the May 17 Season 1 conclusion of the program (via Deadline).
True Lies is the lowest-rated scripted series on CBS this season because it hasn’t been able to attract viewers. Although they kept low, its ratings remained fairly stable, suggesting a devoted core following.
Today, CBS announced the renewal of its three remaining bubble shows. S.W.A.T. was given a 13-episode order for a seventh and final season, reversing the cancellation that occurred on Friday. Meanwhile, freshman East New York was canceled. The three dramas are not produced by major studios.
