To the Lake is a Russian sci-fi thriller television series based on a popular novel titled Vongozero written by Russian author Yana Vagner which was published in 2011.

A report indicated from What’s on Netflix the series, it was stated by TriColorTVMg from Russia that To The Lake season 2 was officially renewed and fans couldn’t be more overjoyed upon learning this great news as the story will continue further.
Has the filming commenced for the second season of To The Lake?
The current status of the filming for the second season remains a mystery to this day although, in a recent interview with Variety, it was cited that the filming for season 2 of To The Lake kicked off back in April 2021 but so far we haven’t heard anything whether the production has finished or not.

To The Lake first season aired on the Russian Network on November 14, 2019. Netflix picked up the series and it was released on October 8, 2020, for a global audience.
The series managed to climb to the top of the charts on the giant streamer since it landed on October 8, 2020, denoting that the subscribers are loving the show.
As far as the release date for the second season is concerned, the exact release is not known as it hasn’t been announced by the show makers or Netflix yet but IMBd asserts that the series won’t arrive until sometime in 2022, which seems quite reasonable given the fact that the shooting for the second began in 2021.

The official cast for the upcoming season has not been revealed so far but one can expect to see the major cast make a return in the second season of To The Lake which includes Kirill Käro (as Sergey), Viktoriya Isakova (as Anna), Aleksandr Robak (as Lyonya), Natalya Zemtsova (as Marina), Maryana Spivak (as Irina), Yuri Kuznetsov (as Boris Mikhailovich), Eldar Kalimulin (as Misha), Viktoriya Agalakova (as Polina), Saveliy Kudryashov (as Anton), and Aleksandr Yatsenko (as Pavel).
On a side note, do keep in mind the characters killed in the series won’t be returning in the upcoming season but they will likely appear only if there’s a flashback sequence.

Plot details are kept under wraps and the official synopsis is not out either so it’s hard to make predict what’s going to happen in the upcoming season but one thing is certain that the story will pick up from where the last season finished off.
The story will likely proceed with no cure found as they try to survive the pandemic and the struggles they have to go through searching desperately for a cure and just like the first season, the second season will also make a comeback on Netflix.
