The Orville is an American sci-fi dramedy series created by Seth Macfarlane. The series is mainly inspired by the original Star Trek series. The story follows the crew of a starship that sets out on an adventure in outer space where they find themselves four hundred years into the future and experience various disasters.
The series first premiered in September 2017, it has released two seasons so far. It has a rating of 8/10 on IMBd and although it did really well among the viewers, The Orville has also received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics but all the more reason, fans are curious to know for the series next season. The Orville Season 3 Release Date:
The makers of the series have given the green-lit for a third season. According to speculations, filming will be wrapped by September 2021. Fans were highly expecting the third season to release in the last week of December this year but unfortunately, the pandemic slowed down the production which also caused a great deal of delay for its initial release date.
Till now, there’s no official announcement about the specific release date of the third season but it is most likely that it will be released in the spring of 2022 or so we think.
The Orville creator Seth MacFarlane and director Jon Cassar stated that there will be a slight change in the format for the new season. It will have 11 episodes instead of 14 episodes of the first two seasons but for the third season, the duration per episode will be extended 10-15 minutes.
The series’ third season will premiere on Hulu and not on Fox. So, while you wait for the third season you can rewatch the previous seasons on Disney, Fox, Hotstar and Hulu.

The makers of the series are hush-hush about the plot for the upcoming season as a result nothing has been revealed. Do they intend to keep it a surprise?
Likewise, the upcoming season will most probably continue the story where the second season left off. The series will unravel interesting thought experiments related to aliens. The third season episode 1 is titled, ‘Electric Sheep.’
UPDATES- 7/2/2022 The release date was pushed back but it seems Hulu has finally announced the release date of The Orville Season 3 and has an official title “The Orville: New Horizons.”

We’ve always promised you a television experience that will make it worth the wait, and we’re not wavering on that. We understand the frustration you’re feeling over more delays, so we want to give you a little taste of what’s to come. Here’s a sneak peek at the first few minutes of our season opener, and our new main title!”

The third season will revolve around the crew of the U.S.S. Orville proceeds with their journey of the expedition, as they reveal both the mysteries of the universe and the intricacies of their interpersonal connections.
According to Hulu, Per Hulu, “Set 400 years in the future, “The Orville: New Horizons” finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continuing their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.”
