The much anticipated ‘The Northman’ is an upcoming adventure action historical drama-thriller movie directed by Robert Eggers who also co-wrote the famous Sjón. Its producers are Mark Huffam and Lars Knudsen and co-produced by News Regency and Focus Features.
The upcoming movie The Northman, after encountering some unfortunate production situations, has finally been set for a release date. Filmmaker Magazine, Jarin Blaschke, and director Robert Eggers in a job interview discussed in detail the various circumstances such as attaining sources and precise research for the film. Blaschke pointed out that, “It’s Rob’s, so it will be accurate as hell. Well, at least as accurate as 1,000 years ago can be.”
Eggers also once told Indiewire, “I don’t get a lot of writer’s block, because it’s all based on research.”
Jarin Blaschke told Filmmaker Magazine, “It won’t look like Rob’s other movies but our underlying goal is still to create something subjective and formal at the same time, just done differently. It’s not shaping up to be a very cutty movie. We don’t want long takes just to have long takes — it’s more about focusing ideas as much as possible, and also giving more power to the cuts when they happen. We are testing the limits of how visually succinct you can be while still conveying a lot of information. This is the precious BS we obsess over. Let us know how we did when we have something to show for it!”
Release Date
The movie was initially scheduled to commence filming back in March 2020 but unfortunately, it couldn’t proceed due to the ongoing pandemic.
In May 2020, Focus Features confirmed that the film is going to arrive on April 22, 2022, and Universal Pictures International will release the movie Internationally on that very same day.

The Northman Plot: What to expect?
The Northman is set in Iceland in the 10th-century Viking centres on seeking revenge. The official synopsis reads: “an epic revenge thriller that explores how far a Viking prince will go to seek justice for his murdered father.” Other than the synopsis, there are no plot details yet but The Northman storyline is very complicated and unpredictable and it is definitely going to be a huge movie.
Dafoe explained to IndieWire that, like several of Eggers’ movies, “The level of research and detail is there, but on a much bigger scale… the sets are fantastic.”
As of now, there is no major information regarding the upcoming movie but we sure are excited to watch The Northman.
