Adapted from the film “The Ignorant Fairies” helmed by Ferzan Özpetek which was released in 2021, “The Ignorant Angels” or “Le Fate Ignoranti” in Italian translation is an Italian romance drama streaming TV series. It is being produced by R&C Produzioni. This series is conceived and directed by Ferzan Ozpetek in collaboration with Gianni Romoli and Gianluca Mazzella and penned by Carlotta Corradi, Massimo Bacchini alongside Ozpetek and Romoli. The eight-episode season debuted on April 13, 2022, in Italy and other selected territories on Star via the Disney+ channel as an Original.

According to Filmaffinity, the synopsis reads: “Following the death of her husband in a car accident, Antonia discovers that he was having a homosexual affair with a man named Michele. The Ignorant Angels are all those who live in the open, who live their feelings, and are not afraid to manifest them. They are the people who speak outright, who live their own contradictions and who ignore the strategies. Often they pass for ignorant, because they seem boorish, and intrusive for their lack of good manners. But they are also very often fairies, because they are capable of performing the miracle of overwhelming us. Forcing us to make a change in our life.

Will There Be a Season 2 of The Ignorant Angels?
Currently, it’s not known if the series will be back with another season as it has not been renewed yet. Fans of this show will probably need to wait for some time for the creators to make an official announcement, since it hasn’t been that long since the first season came out.
However, the chances of The Ignorant Angels returning with a season 2 seems unlikely because the series is already a remake of the 2001 Italian film “The Ignorant Fairies” also directed by Ferzan Özpetek. The film was a two-hour long film while each episode of the series was nearly one-hour runtime. This indicates the creators have covered the adapted version of the story in every possible way leaving no room for continuation. But we can not assume so fast as they have confirmed nothing so far.
