The Expendables are gearing up to return with the fourth installment after much delay. The Expendables franchise has primarily been all about reviving veteran action actors, and fans appeared to enjoy the classic action-packed thrills that the film has to offer, bringing in famous stars like Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone along with many well-known faces.
The Expendables 4 is a forthcoming American action flick directed by Scott Waugh, and the movie’s script was jotted down by Spencer Cohen and revised by Max Adams and Joseph Connolly. The original was released more than a decade ago, in 2010. The movie was a box success grossing over $ 800 million worldwide, and soon afterward, it expanded into a franchise and released two more movies; the fourth movie is set to be released in 2022.
Fans cannot help but wonder why it’s taking so long for the fourth movie to come out, but it appears that production was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the main lead Sylvester Stallone wasn’t sure to return to the franchise. But fret not; the male lead is all set to return.

The Expendables 4 has wrapped filming
The Expendables 4 has been in discussions since 2014, when the third part of The Expendables came out. However, in 2017, Sylvester Stallone exited the franchise along with his friends and co-actors. But in 2018, the actor returned, and ever since, the movie has been in development. In April 2021, star Randy Couture revealed that the fourth Instalment is still in development, as a new script is in the works but officially kicked off filming in the autumn of 2021.

Sylvester Stallone bids farewell to the film series
It was reported that this would be Stallone’s last movie. He said, “it’s time to be moving on,” he continued, “ready to pass the baton on to Jason [Statham] and his capable hands.” He will be seen in the upcoming movie; The Expendables 4 and will be his last film.
The Expendables 4 release date: When is The Expendables 4 hitting the theatres?
Unfortunately, The Expendables 4 doesn’t have a release date. However, the movie will be arriving sometime in 2022 since the filming has finished. Fans can expect the movie to hit the theaters by early 2022 at the earliest. That’s all we have, for now, folks!
The Expendables 4 cast: Who’s in it?
The cast lineup for the upcoming action flick has been confirmed. This will be the fourth movie of the series, seven years after the third part was released in 2014.
The Expendables 4 will see the return of the original cast, including Jason Statham (Lee Christmas), Sylvester Stallone (as Barney Ross), Randy Couture (as Toll Road), and Dolph Lungren (as Gunner Jensen).
Additionally, Tony Jaa, 50 Cent and Megan Fox are the new comers who’ll be appearing in the upcoming movie.
There were also rumors about Arnold Schwarzenegger who’ll be joining Stallone in The Expandables 4 but we haven’t heard any news or official confirmation whether the Terminator star will be back or not.
Millennium’s media boss stated on the casting, saying that: “couldn’t be more excited to bring this star-studded, action-packed film to the big screen with Lionsgate, who have been with us since the inception of this franchise. To keep it fresh and fun, we’ve added exciting new stars to join the veterans; popcorn entertainment is guaranteed.”
The Expendables 4 plot: What will it be about?
Plot details are kept secret, and the official synopsis is not out yet either. However, Jason Constantine of Lionsgate’s depicted the movie as a “no-holds-barred action film” as it will “raise the stakes and be the biggest, most badass adventure yet.”
As per the The Hollywood Reporter: “The plot will once again focus on a group of veteran mercenaries. And while the initial movies from in the early 2010s had Stallone as the focal point, sources say in this outing Statham will be the one with the biggest gun. Fox is the female lead.”
