Conceived by Robert King and Michelle King, “The Bite” is an American sci-fi horror that debuted on Spectrum Originals on May 21, 2021. It stars Audra McDonald, Taylor Schilling, Steven Pasquale, Phillipa Soo, Will Swenson, and Leslie Uggams.
“This is the most difficult show we have ever undertaken, because the goal was to keep people safe,” says Michelle King about the eye-opening six-episode limited series. Michelle co-created the series with her husband Robert King.
With such a unique storyline, the series was well-received as many felt that it portrayed the covid-19 situation pretty neatly and was more of like a wake-up call about the current state that we live in. Let’s find out if the series will be back for another season.
Will there be Season 2 of The Bite?
First of all, the series is labeled as a limited series and consisted of six episodes. It’s unlikely that The Bite would return with a second run despite the success it earned.
Another clear indication of the series not returning is that it has since been over a year and no official updates have been provided about a season 2 from the show makers or Spectrum Originals. Hopefully, we can get an announcement in the coming days.
The Bite Season 2 Release Date
The fact that there have been no updates till now about a possible season 2 can only imply that the show is discontinued although there is no official confirmation yet.
However, if season 2 gets renewed, fans won’t get to see the new series until sometime in Mid-2023.
Is The Bite Basically About the World Coming to an End?
In an interview with the writer duo via GOLDDERBY, “We wanted to do something about the end of the world because we felt like the country was in the midst of the end of the world,” Robert clarifies. “We also wanted to do something that was available to Broadway actors who we befriended and we knew would be out of work for a very long time. And then, one that was fun and seemed to satirize in an action framework, what was really going on in our country but also around the world,” he tells. “To make a show under these constraints, it would be very easy to make a tedious show,” Michelle acknowledges, expanding that “the challenges for us was what do we do to make it not tedious, and for us, the obvious answer is zombies and dominatrixes,” she chuckles, which her husband seconds with “I wish that weren’t so true, but it is true!”
“The insanity kept developing as we were writing and shooting,” Robert explains about their project to explore how much time it might take for people to take seriously about an inevitable zombie apocalypse. “It felt like a good idea to satirize this disrespect for the seriousness of people dying!”
