The reality competition show went on a hiatus for over a year after releasing season 40 on However, the show came back stronger than ever with season 41 in September 2021 solidifying a new period in casting, with a lot of twists and game-play.
It’s just recently that the forty-first season of Survivor came to an end and it seems like the competition show is already gearing up to launch the forty-two season. In the last season, there were many challenges along the way. The season was applauded by the audience for its powerful cast but condemned for the many twists it tossed at the participants. Eventually, one participant Erika Casupanan was able to arise victoriously and became the first female to win the show since the 2017 “Survivor: Game Changers.”
Season 41 of Survivor was the first season to have shot and launched its season since the show had to take a break after the Covid-19 pandemic which affected International travelling and production. Once production began again, the reality show went to its normal plan of shooting two seasons consciously and filmed the forty-two season after wrapping the forty-first season.
Currently, there isn’t much information regarding the upcoming season but we have compiled all that is to know about below and rumour has it that the show plans to stick with the same gameplay as the last season.
Release Date of Survivor Season 42: When is it?
As previously mentioned, Survivor filmed two seasons continuously in the summer of 2021 and is scheduled to launch them the same year and for the other season in 2022.
The good news is, CBS recently declared that season 42 of Survivor will premiere on March 9, 2022. The network has also dropped the video teaser/trailer (watch it below) along with the release date announcement.
Seasons 41 & 42 was originally deemed to launch back in mid-2021, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the production had to be postponed for more than a year causing a great delay for the forty-first and forty-two seasons and this led to filming back to back for both the seasons.
The Cast of Survivor Season 42: Who’s in it?
The cast of season 42 will consist of 18 new participants coming from a diverse backdrop similar to the last season. CBS’s fifty per cent diversity rule came into effect starting from 2020 onwards and making sure that half of its reality shows casts must include Indigenous, Black or people of colour (BIPOC).
The names of the contestants who are cast in season 42 of Survivor are Chanelle Howell, Daniel Strunk, Drea Wheeler, Hai Giang, Jackson Fox, Jonathan Young, Jenny Kim, Lindsay Dolashewich, Lydia Meredith, Marya Sherron, Maryanne Oketch, Mike Turner, Omar Zaheer, Rocksroy Bailey, Romeo Escobar, Swati Goel, Tori Meehan, and Zach Wurtengerger. However, the cast mentioned is not officially yet officially confirmed.
Survivor Season 42: What to Expect?
Similar to the forty-first season, the upcoming season will continue for more than 26 days including a 14 days quarantine protocol for all the cast and crew before the show finally proceeds. The forty-two season of Survivor plans to proceed with the same pattern as the previous season, as the new participants will take on challenges that require them to push themselves to the limit and fight for the million-dollar reward.

Executive producer Jeff Probst also stated that season 42 is going to be “the most dangerous version of Survivor ever seen.”
The teaser trailer also showed us a glimpse of the 18 new participants, and just like season 41, will be divided into three teams of six to start the game. The teaser implied that several or maybe all of the 41st season’s questionable twists plans to be a part of the upcoming season, ascertaining that the beware benefits and confidential phrases will return as well. Viewers can watch the forty-second season of a survivor on CBS. You can also watch the reality series on Paramount+, which will consist of a free trial for about a week. Survivor season 42 is all set to launch on March 9, 2022, at 8:00 PM on CBS.
