Created by William Boyd, Spy City is a television miniseries. The show was created during the Cold War. It first aired in Germany. AMC+ picked up the rights to stream in the United States at MIPTV.
The plot of the series is about a British spy. He was sent to Berlin in 1961. He was sent on a mission to uncover a mole in the United Kingdom’s Embassy or among the Allies, shortly before the construction of the Berlin Wall.
This series has a cast never seen before: Dominic Cooper, Johanna Wokalek, Leonie Benesch, Ben Münchow, Romane Portail and Seumas F. Sargent, interpreting our characters: Fielding Scott, Ulrike Faber, Eliza Hahn, Reinhart, Severine Bloch, and Conrad Greer, respectively
Spy City was shot in Roudnice nad Labem, Plzeň, Prague in the Czech Republic, from 27 August to 30 November 2019, subbing for Berlin in the 1960s. It was produced by Mischa Hofmann, Britta Meyermann, and Ann-Kathrin Eicher in association with William Boyd, and Dominic Cooper, among others. So far there’s only one season of the series.

Will there be Spy City Season 2?
Spy City entered development in 2014. It was initially planned to be a ten-episode series. In 2019, Dominic Cooper was cast in the lead role.
The 2020 BBC One series features James Bond-like spy Fielding Scott during the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis. William Boyd created the first season, starring Dominic Cooper, Leila Farzad, and Romy Rosemont. The series was lauded for its spy thriller themes, locale, and performances but criticized for being slow and dramatic.
Several elements could affect Spy City’s second-season renewal:

- Cast and crew availability.

- BBC’s willingness to invest in a second season.

Spy City Season 2 Release Date

Spy City Season 1 Recap
Spy City is a 6-episode British espionage thriller set in Berlin during the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis. It follows British spy Fielding Scott (Dominic Cooper) as he investigates a colleague’s abduction in Berlin.
Scott meets his German translator, Vera Stahl (Leila Farzad), in Berlin. Scott and Stahl uncover that the missing agent was involved in a covert rocket technology smuggling operation from East Germany. While investigating the missing agent, Scott and Stahl discover a top-level British and East German conspiracy. They also face the Soviet Union’s desire for rocket technology.
Despite their contrasting backgrounds, Stahl and Scott must rely on each other throughout the series. Both fall for each other romantically. They discover the missing spy and rocket scheme and keep the Soviet Union from getting the tech.

Spy City Season 2: Is it Happening

As of April 2023, AMC has not renewed or canceled the series. It’s over two years since the first season was released and till now not a single word has been heard from the showmakers concerning a season two of Spy City. As a result, it is not known if the series would be back for more and even if it does fans might have to wait a bit longer for the network to decide whether or not to continue the series and hopefully, provide us with an official statement.
