A sequel was officially announced by Developer Monomi Park and is currently in the works as of June 2021.
During the E3 showcase, it was announced that Slime Rancher 2 is arriving on the Xbox series X and S.
One of the most anticipated games, Slime Rancher 2 is all set to continue the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau which is a sequel to the award-winning, massive hit original that has around 10 million fans around the world.
What is Slime Rancher 2 about?
As Beatrix LeBeau continues her journey into the unknown depths, will she encounter new slimes? On the Rainbow Island, she will attempt to unfold the Island’s enigmas and discover its real objective, she’ll build a new ranch and make a farm in an arboretum with walls made of sparkling glass as it’ll give her a whole view of the rainbow-hued which is now her home.
Developer Monomi Park described the sequel as, “painted in a prismatic array of ever-shifting colours, and its great expanses will put [Beatrix’s] adventurous spirit to the test.”
Platforms
Slime Rancher 2 will follow the footsteps of its predecessor and will be launched on Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. We sure are excited about this! However, Slime Rancher will probably not be available on Xbox one and last generation consoles.
Moreover, Slime Rancher 2 will be a limited edition exclusively for Xbox. The upcoming game will not be available to PS5 but only after the game’s initial arrival. Also, Slime Rancher 2 will not come out on PS4.
What’s Slime Rancher 2 going to be like? Is it going to be worth the hype?
Nick Popovich, the director of Slime Rancher game director and game developer Monomi Park, previously explained to K2C Digital that the upcoming sequel is going to be much bigger.
Popovich said, “One of the reasons we had to move on from the first game is that we were literally, and I mean literally, reaching the bounds of the world. Everything in the original Slime Rancher is basically happening in the same scene to have that seamless movement between zones, and we were coming up to the physical limits of this virtual space.”
He resumed, “With a sequel, everyone gets to interpret this new art that we’ve made all at once, the conversation happens all at once. There isn’t this distance between veteran players and new players.”
Slime Rancher 2: Release date
At the moment, the upcoming sequel’s official release date has not been announced yet but it is set to be released in 2022. Other than this there are no details about it either.
Slime Rancher 2: Gameplay
We’re expecting the sequel’s gameplay to be very much similar and comparable to its predecessor but should have a different feel to it.
The Official Synopsis reads: “Continue the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau as she journeys across the Slime Sea to Rainbow Island, a land brimming with ancient mysteries, and bursting with wiggly, new slimes to wrangle in this sequel to the smash-hit, Slime Rancher.”
The first game Slime Rancher didn’t support multiplayer. The developers were strictly against having multiplayer options as they want Slime Rancher single player to have a unique experience in the game. But it’s all in the past now, it’d be really great if the game developers come up with multiplayer options.
