Road House is a classic film that was released in 1989 and is one of the latest undertakings for a reboot. The risk about making a reboot or a remake is that it’s always a hit or a miss. But we guarantee you that many people who have watched this old classic would definitely like to watch a cameo in the reboot since Road House is nonetheless considered one the most beloved films back in the 1980s starring Patrick Swayze who was a distinguished actor during that era.
And ever since the talk about a reboot surfaced, interestingly, this film has been gaining quite the recognition over time, and it’s expected that it will proceed to go along with it as people recall the modest yet persuasive tale at that time.
As per reports, it seems Jake Gyllenhaal will be seen in the upcoming reboot which is currently in development. Deadline also reported that sources have revealed that MGM is excited to bring out a new edition of the movie into production, and have been in search for screenwriters to re-write or modify the original movie’s script. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal and director Dough Liman are affixed to the make the project happen and, while the duo have other projects they are commencing work on as soon as possible, the studio is reported to be busy working on the reboot movie as of now.
When will the Road House reboot be aired?
According to Deadline, MGM has been attempting to make a reboot since many years ago but it did not lead anywhere. In 2013, it was declared that Rob Cohen was on board to helm the reboot version, however, there was no actual development. Several years later, discussions about a Road House reboot resurfaced with UFC Champion Ronda Rousey as the lead cast of the remake movie.
Nevertheless, many questioned Rousey’s acting skills and this led to the dismissal of the project. But this time, we feel like the reboot is finally happening for real with Jake Gyllenhaal already being cast in the reboot. Will the help of a star power be able to resurrect the classic movie and make the reboot successful? Only time will tell.
Coming back to the release date of the reboot, nothing is known at the moment. The production date is not fixed either and it’s unlikely for fans to see the reboot in 2021, that’d be way too soon. Maybe we can expect the reboot to arrive sometime in 2023.

Except for Jake Gyllenhaal who will be seen in the upcoming Road House reboot, nothing is confirmed nor his role and whether there’ll be any other star cast joining him. As for the director, Dough Liman is set to helm the reboot.
Road House reboot plot: What will it be about?
For people who haven’t watched or heard anything before about Road House, you’ll probably be confused and are marvelling at what all the commotion is about. It’s understandable, if you have never heard of Road House in fact many of you reading this aren’t even born yet at that time.
The official synopsis of Road House reads:
“The Double Deuce is the meanest, loudest and rowdiest bar south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and Dalton (Patrick Swayze) has been hired to clean it up. He might not look like much, but the Ph.D.-educated bouncer proves he’s more than capable — busting the heads of troublemakers and turning the roadhouse into a jumping hot-spot. But Dalton’s romance with the gorgeous Dr. Clay (Kelly Lynch) puts him on the bad side of cutthroat local big shot Brad Wesley (Ben Gazzara).”
It’s not revealed if the upcoming reboot will be loosely based on the original movie or a fresh concept entirely, it’s also not known if Jake Gyllenhaal will portray the character of Dalton or be assigned to a new character role but if it follows the original story it’s definitely going to be a lot more exciting.
