Directed by Kim Kyu-Tae, Our Blues is a South Korean series that portrays the lives of eight characters on Korea’s populous island, Jeju Island. The different stories wrapped in various episodes have appealed to audiences emotionally. It follows an omnibus format with every episode narrating a relationship between two or more main characters with supporting characters joining in between scenes. The series debuted on TvN on April 9 2022 and released 16 episodes as of May 2022. With the series drawing to its finale, fans already wonder whether there will be more stories to be told in season two. Disappointingly, the series’ fate remains unclear at this moment as there is no confirmed news about season two of the series. Will Our Blues return to the screens?
Typically, Korean drama leaves fans unsatiated after season one’s release. There are so many more stories to be heard and told, yet creators plan not to deliver a second outing. However, Our blues may be an exception considering its positive reviews and high ratings that have made it fan-favorite in a short time.
At this point, it is very difficult to say whether fans will see a more heartwarming atlas from Jeju Island. But we are holding out hope that shows creators have something positive in store for fans.
Where was Season one of Our Blues filmed?
Our Blues hit the production in the fall of 2021 but its release suffered due to a cast member testing positive for Covid. Yet the filming resumed following a brief pause with cast members sharing pictures on SNS that they had wrapped up shooting.
A major part of the series’ filming took place on Jeju island which serves as the background of the series.
There is a possibility that its future episodes may have a new location with new people, and their pain, sufferings, life, and healing stories.
Our Blues Season 2’s Casting details
Our blues boasts of an A-star cast ensemble comprising Lee Byung-hun as Lee Dong-Seok who is brought up in a remote area on Jeju Island, Shin Min-a as Min Seon-ah, who is grappling with post-separation stress and has moved to Jeju Island, Cha Seung-won as Choi Han-soo, an urban man who struggles with finances to fulfill his daughter’s ambition, Lee Jung-Eun as Jeong Eun-hee, a hard-working woman who runs a fish outlet on the island, Han Ji-min as Lee Young-ok, a female driver who is in many rumors and Kim Woo-bin as Park Jeong-Joon, a warm natured captain who finds love on the island. There is also a guest role by Park Seong-Yeon as Investigator in Seon Ah’s divorce case.
Kim Woo-bin’s return to the television after being diagnosed with cancer in 2016 has made the series even more special. Woo-bin is joined by his real-life partner, Shin Min-a in the series. However, it’s not clear whether the duo share any common story or scene.
The credit for writing a wholesome script goes to Noh Hee-Kyung. Uhm Jung-Hwa who plays Go Mi-ran has always looked forward to working with Kyung. And Our Blues made her long-pending dream a reality. If it wasn’t for Mi-ran, the actor would have still loved to be on the series in any other capacity as long as she had a chance to collaborate with Noh.
Our Blues Season 2’s plotline
Our Blues does not have a definite storyline. Each character in the series has a unique story of his own. Lee Dong-Seok works as a truck merchant and has a love interest in Min Seon-ah, who loses custody of her child after her divorce. The pair share an emotional bond that many can relate to. While Choi Han-soo lies about his marriage to gain monetary benefits from his high school crush, Eun-hee, who gives him hope about life. Lee-Young-ok and Park Jeong-Joon’s relationship is also something as real as the stories they are living on Jeju island.
If a season second gets a green signal, fans could anticipate it to follow a similar format with a slew of new casts.
