Another huge actor, Mads Mikkelsen is reported to have officially joined the cast of the much anticipated fifth series of “Indiana Jones”. The upcoming fifth movie will once again have Harrison Ford reprise his role as Indiana Jones, with many other new cast members comprising Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas.
Talking to Collided, the Oscar-winning actor was asked how he felt to have been cast in the new “Indiana Jones” movie, Mikkelsen disclosed he earlier went back and rewatched “Raiders of the Lost Ark” helmed by Steven Spielberg.
““I’m very, very excited about it… I rewatched Raiders of the Lost Ark the other day, it is so well-done and so charming, and it’s such great storytelling. So yes it’s a great honor to be part of that franchise that I grew up with… I’m in a lucky position where they let me read the script before. And yes, it was everything I wished it to be, so that was just great.”
The actor further added: “I do think I’m invited in to create a character, I think that everybody wants that. That’s why they pick certain actors that they think can come up with certain things, and it will be a collaboration as it always is. Interesting enough, again a little like Riders of Justice, there is kind of a genre mix in Indiana Jones always. There is something that is a little larger-than-life, almost back to the 30s with a Peter Lorre kind of feel, and then you have Indiana Jones who kind of is a straight man. But he does produce a lot of funny and interesting things, but there are different character genres in some of those films.”
What Can The Fans Possibly Except to See in Indiana Jones 5?
Not much is revealed for now but in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Mads Mikkelsen in an undisclosed role dropped hints on what we can look forward to from the untitled fifth Indiana Jones movie.
“[Raiders of the Lost Ark] was one of my favorite films, and it just oozes that golden period of serials from the 1940s — and that’s in the fifth film as well,” Mikkelsen described, hinting at the new installment. “They’re going heavily back to the first and second film and getting that original feel, the original Indy, something dense and epic.”
Untitled fifth Indiana will be directed by James Mangold who also co-written the script along with Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. The fifth installment of the Indiana Jones film series is scheduled to be released on June 30, 2023.
