Lovecraft Country’s premiere episode attracted nearly 15 million viewers by the series’ end. It was a show that received numerous Emmy nominations and was also met with warm critical reception. Despite this, HBO’s celebrated horror show did not get a renewal, rather was officially canned in July 2021. This is disheartening because the series developer, Misha Green had a clear vision for season two, and was supposedly working on it with a team of writers. That said, the network did not state any reasons behind this cancelation, however, high production expenses and an unhealthy work environment were regarded as the main reasons for season two’s non-renewal. It’s going to be a year since we heard anything about Lovecraft Country, but fans are still holding out hope for the series’ return. So, is it possible that Lovecraft could return for a second chapter or perhaps get picked up by another network? Here’s everything we know so far about a possible Lovecraft Country Season two:
Release date for Lovecraft Country Season 2
Lovecraft made its debut in August 2020, and its first season also marked its end. Reports claimed that Misha Green created an unhealthy environment at work that impacted the works of other writers. Nevertheless, her work drew the attention of millions of viewers, and her contribution to the series’ success cannot be overlooked. With all that, it is not known yet when Lovecraft Country season two will arrive on our screens or whether will it even return or not. Considering the long time gap, the chances of its revival are slim. But we still have its prior season to catch up with. So, tune in to HBO or Netflix to watch its previous ten episodes and have a good me time.
Lovecraft Country’s Story So Far
It centers around a Korean war veteran, Atticus Freeman who journeys across Jim Crow America with his childhood pal, Letitia, and Uncle George to find his missing father, Montrose. Season one saw bloodshed, gore, monstrous creations, and magic spells. It ended with Christina Braithwhite becoming immortal, by sacrificing Atticus’s life. However, Ji-ah, a Korean nurse possessed by a Nine-tail fox, binds Atticus and Christina and takes the magic from Christina and other white people. But the binding spell could not save Atticus’s life, who died due to loss of blood. It was a conclusion that we never saw coming. We can say that the series was a perfect blend of fiction, periodic drama, and science.
Lovecraft Country season two’s possible story
Misha Green tweeted out a map of the United States before its cancellation that was supposed to be the setting of season two. She dubbed it the Sovereign States of America with four divisions- Tribal Nations of the West, New Negro Republic, Whitelands, and Jefferson Commonwealth. Green also titled season two Lovecraft Country: Supremacy. And that’s all the deets we know about what could have been the storyline of Lovecraft Country season two. While season two remains a mystery, we still have a season one to revisit.
