Developed by David S. Goyer for Syfy, “Krypton” is an American superhero science fiction TV series revolving around Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), also as you might know the grandfather of the famous DC superhero Kal-El AKA Superman. The series takes place around two centuries before the conception of Superman and puts up with a place on the eponymous fictitious planet. The first season of Krypton was released on March 21, 2018, consisting of ten episodes. The second season of ten episodes premiered on June 12, 2019.
Upon release, the series received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. Nonetheless, the show went on to release a second season which performed poorly in comparison to the first season in terms of ratings and viewership. Season two premiered on June 19, 2019, and just after two seasons, the series was officially axed by Syfy in August 2019.
Krypton Cancelled After Two Seasons: No Season 3
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Syfy has axed “Krypton” because the second season was only bringing in roughly 400,000 watchers – an abrupt decrease from the average of about 1.8 million viewers who witnessed the first season when DVR numbers and 3-day broadcasting was factored in.
Syfy not only canceled “Krypton” prematurely but the network has also called off its projects to develop a spin-off based on season two guest star Emmett J Scanlan as bounty hunter Lobo.
Needless to say, it’s disappointing to see the series ending so abruptly with no proper ending for the characters but it seems like Cuffe who played the famous superhero grandfather is taking it somewhat well.
The actor shared a picture of himself holding the superhero cape which had the family crest on it. He captioned: “What I feel above all is gratitude. I spent 3 years living an impossible dream.
“I will always be a proud son of Krypton. Keep believing in a better tomorrow.”
