Kim Rossi Stuart and Anna Foglietta have been cast in the upcoming series “Everybody Loves Diamonds.”
“It’s one of our most ambitious projects”, Head of Amazon Studios’ at Italian Originals Nicole Morganti stated. Filmed throughout 6-months in Antwerp, Rome, Turin, and Sardinia, in an assortment of areas, outfits, and periods and with considerable budget backing, “Everybody Loves Diamonds,” is an upcoming Prime Video original Italian heist drama series, led by Kim Rossi Stuart. The series will premiere on the streaming platform next spring. Two more key cast members have also been revealed including Rupert Everett and Malcolm McDowell.
The series is set to be directed by Gianluca Maria Tavarelli (”Break Free,” “Don’t Make Any Plans for Tonight,” and “The Young Montalbano”). “Everybody Loves Diamonds” is inspired on the 2003 “Antwerp Heist”, the biggest diamond thievery in the world, executed by Leonardo Notarbartolo and his squad on the night of 14th February (Valentine’s Day), who bypassed the tight security system which defended the lockbox of the Flemish city’s Diamond Center. The stolen items were worth roughly $100 million.
“I really loved playing this Gascony-born character who is basically pure, and determined to carry out the heist of the century”, said Rossi Stuart. The actor is known for his roles in “Angels of Evil” in which he played Renato Vallanzasca. Rossi Stuart also appeared in “The Best Year’s.” In 2007, he won the Davide di Donatello trophy for Best Emerging Director for his work “Along the Ridge.”
The series stars Anna Foglietta, Gianmarco Tognazzi, Carlotta Antonelli and Leonardo Lodi portraying as thieves with Rossi Stuart, and re-enacting this great criminal featuring Concerning Everett and McDowell’s taking part in the series. Filmmaker Tavarelli said: “These are two actors who not only bring their notoriety to the series, but also their considerable acting expertise. Both of them will measure themselves up against Kim in lengthy, verbally challenging dialogue while sitting face to face at a table”.
“Everybody Loves Diamonds” is being produced by Wildside’s Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Gangarossa on behalf of Wildside and penned by Michele Astori with Stefano Bises, Giulio Carrieri, and Bernardo Pellegrini. This new series will be circulated in more than 240 countries and territories across the globe and available on Amazon Prime Video in spring 2023 though an exact release date is yet to be determined.
