“Actor Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter account was permanently suspended for repeated violation of Twitter rules, according to a company spokesperson. The decision came after the actor made controversial comments on the post-poll violence in West Bengal, which were seen as a call to violence. The move sparked outrage among many who had called for action against Ranaut. The actor had claimed that Twitter’s decision was biased and said in a statement, ‘Twitter has only proved my point they’re Americans and by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do.’ Ranaut also posted a video on Instagram calling for President’s rule in the state and expressing her distress at the ‘death of democracy’.
