The Indian Premier League will increase the number of teams by adding two more new teams namely Lucknow and Ahmedabad in the upcoming season. This will also boost the level of competitiveness as the last teams will be playing against new challengers. The mega auction is set to take place before the next season which will enable the recent franchise to get an adequate opportunity to have the best team. The other thing is, before the auction begins, the former eight franchises have a tough job which is the Players Retention.
As per the rules, all the franchises can possess at least 4 players at the most. Out of these, at least two players must be from overseas and a maximum of three Indian cricketers will be permitted before the auction.
The BCCU has formally declared that each franchise has to hand over the file of retained cricketers by November 30, 2021.
Retaining cricketers will demand the franchises a huge sum if a squad agrees to utilize all four choices of retention then the whole purse ready for the four cricketers will sum up to Rupees 42 Crores, the second will earn around Rs. 12 Crores, the third will fetch Rs. 8 Crores, and lastly, the fourth will amount up to Rs. 6 Crores for their performances.

IPL 2022: Venue: Where is it?
IPL 2022 is all set to begin in Chennai.
According to reports, the competition will commence from March 27 to April 22, 2022, in Chennai. There will be 10 squads and 74 matches, it’s anticipated that the final match of the competition could be somewhere in the first week of June 2022.
The BCCI secretary, Jay Shah recently teased IPL 2022 returning to India instead of UAE.
He said in a statement about CSK celebrating the title in 2021: “I know you all are waiting to see CSK play at Chepauk. Well, the moment is not very far. The 15th season of the IPL will take place in India and it will be more exciting than ever with two new teams joining. We have a mega auction coming up, so it will be interesting to see what the new combinations look like.”
Shah added: “A lot of credit for CSK’s success over the years has to go to N Srinivasan as he has stood by his team in the difficult times. I must add that Kasi Viswanathan is like a glue that binds the team together. Season by season he has navigated the team.”
“How can one take CSK lightly when you have a captain like MS Dhoni. Dhoni is the heartbeat and backbone of CSK. Mahi is the most successful captain India has ever produced. The bond he has made and the legacy he has created will stay for ages,” Shah continued.
The reigning champions CSK won the IPL 2021 for the fourth time with MS Dhoni as the captain.
IPL 2022: Squads
As we’ve mentioned before that two new squads will be added to the current teams of eight franchises. The BCCI had already made clear that Ahmedabad will receive one franchise while Lucknow will earn the second franchise.
The massive pooled giants comprising RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group from Kolkata, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd from Hyderabad, the Adani group that is headquartered in Ahmedabad, and lastly, the Torrent Group have expressed their interests in holding an IPL franchise.
So with new teams, the competition gets tougher. Nevertheless, MS Dhoni disclosed that he will continue his legacy, teasing that he will play for CSK in 2022 IPL.
Dhoni in a statement (via Star Sports) said: “Again I’ve said it before, it depends on the BCCI. With two new teams coming in, we have to decide what is good for CSK. It’s not about me being there in the top three or four. It’s about making a strong core to ensure the franchise doesn’t suffer. The core group, we have to have a hard look to see who can contribute for the next 10 years.”
