Hold The Front Page follows Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar as they set out in search for real local stories strong enough to make it to the “front page” across the UK. Six of National World’s newspapers and websites were featured in the flagship Sky series that aired on January 4, 2023.
Dealing with everyday issues while diving deep into local mysteries and taking part in unusual events in local folklore, the series aims to bestow the audiences with a fast-paced and unique idea about local journalism. The show is coordinated by National World deputy editor in chief and veteran journalist Gary Shipton.
Neil Mcintosh, Editor of The Scotsman, spoke on working with Widdicombe and Kumar: “It was a pleasure to welcome Josh and Nish. Arriving in the middle of the Edinburgh Festival, they dipped their toes in the full range of Scotsman coverage – from show reviews to rocket launches, via one of Scotland’s most eminent politicians, and one of its most fearsome actors.”
Editor of The Blackpool Gazette, Nicola Adam, said: “I really hope the show demonstrates the breadth of what we do across local news in the UK, it’s not all bad news as the vast majority of stories we tell is to showcase our wonderful communities and people as well as advocating on the issues which matter to them.

Will there be a season 2 of Hold the Front Page?
As of February 2023, the series Hold the Front Page is yet to receive the official greenlight for season 2. Sky Max hasn’t formally announced the renewal of the second season yet. However, going by the ratings and reviews that the previous season garnered, we are affirmative that it will receive the greenlight. Let’s await more info from the makers!

What to expect from the plot of Hold the Front Page season 2?
The second season of Hold the Front Page will follow the highs and lows of Nish and Josh as they journey across the UK looking for local telltales that could make it to the front page of the newspaper. Their journey bestows an insight of Britain and how the British delve into local mysteries.
The duo, Nish and Josh will participate in unusual events and cover the burning issues of day to day life. But with absolutely no journalistic experience, they gotta rely on their natural curiosity and quick wits – or else they’ll be proven dimwits, lol. They attempt to get to the core of each town and dig up some incredible scoops.
