Do you remember Billy the Kid? He’s one of the most notorious robbers known in the Wild West. His background is pretty much pitiable as he’s been involved in many crime-related issues and carnages however the movie is visually captivating with its impressive gun battles and bold stunts.
Directed by Christopher Cain and penned by John Fusco, the original movie “Young Guns” was released in 1988 that starred Emilio Estevez, Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Philips, Terrance Stamp, and Dermot Mulroney. The movie revolves around Billy the Kid and his gang during the Lincoln County war that took place in New Mexico in the nineteenth century. Despite the movie’s low budget, the movie was surprisingly a huge hit of that time.
Two years later a sequel to the original “Young Guns II” was released in 1990 following the success of the first movie. The story follows after the events of the infamous Lincoln County War. Fast forward, It has been thirty years since we last saw Billy the Kid played by Emilio Estevez, and quite surprisingly, the Young Guns franchise is supposedly gearing up for more adventures and gunfights.
Despite the talks about a possible third movie, there’s a lot that is still not known regarding the upcoming movie. Though we do know that the third movie has an official title which is “Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid.” Here’s what we know about it.
Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid Release date: When is it?
As of now, the release date for Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid has not been confirmed.
In March 2021, star Emilio Estevez in a chat with Collider disclosed that a third movie is happening and is coming sooner than you think.
“Yeah, it’s definitely in the works. I drive a lot and I spend a lot of time in the Midwest, and people will tell me, ‘We haven’t seen you on screen for a while. Come back! We’d love to see you in the movies again. We’d love to see you play Gordon Bombay. We’d love to see you play Billy the Kid.’ So, I feel like we’ve ticked one box, and we’re working on ticking the other one. The Kid is a fun character to play. There’s a lot of speculation about what happened that night, in 1881 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Did he die? Did he not? And so, there’s a lot of mythical, historical and actually, some factual things that we can examine, if we’re serious about going back to that franchise, as well.”
So if the third installment wrapped its filming by the end of 2021, we might get to see it sometime in 2022. Well, most of you have already waited for decades so what’s the harm in waiting for another couple of months right?

There’s a lot of speculation about what happened that night, in 1881 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Did he die? Did he not?
