Starring the Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner star Simon Bird, Everyone Else Burns is a six-part series set in Manchester, UK. It follows the family patriarch David Lewis along with other well-known comedy actors as hosts, such as Kate O’Flynn (Landscapers) and Morgana Robinson (The Windsors).
The plot Everyone Else Burns revolves around the Lewis family and the puritanical Christian sect that they are devoted to. Yearning to ascend the church ranks and become an Elder, Patriarch Dawid Lewis struggles, while his wife Fiona tries to combat her own dogmatic moral values. They have a 12-year-old daughter Son who fights a regular battle with secular bullies, while their 17-year-old naice daughter Rachel is desperate to get into her dream university (only if her parents allow it!)
Here we bring forth all the potential updates on the second season of Everyone Else Burns!
What is Everyone Else Burns about?
Everyone Else Burns is a family sitcom that follows a pair of apocalypse-obsessed mum dad and their two younger children. The parents are a part of some cult that believes the end of life’s coming any minute – however, they are convinced that their time won’t come – as they fall into the fewer ones who will be saved.
The official Channel 4 synopsis explains that “Everyone Else Burns is a subversive, authentic and bitingly funny exploration into what it feels like to balance faith, family and identity in a world that could end tomorrow (but probably won’t)”.
Will there be a season 2 of Everyone Else Burns?
Yes. Everyone Else Burns has already been renewed for season 2 and is all set to premiere in 2023!
The Cast
While there hasn’t been an official update, you may expect the return of all the cast members from the previous season.
Simon Bird will return as the lead character playing the role of David Lewis. He’s best known for his roles as Will in The Inbetweeners and Adam in Friday Night Dinner. Bird was also featured in the Sky sitcom Chickens and The King is Dead.
Kate O’Flynn will reprise her role as Fiona Lewis, the dutiful wife. She’s made appearances in The Suspicions of Mr Whicher or Landscapers. Kate was also featured in Death in Paradise, where she played Neville’s sister Izzy.
Next up is Amy James-Kelly. She will return as the 17-year-old desperate to go to uni girl, Rachel Lewis. She believes that there’s life outside the cult, which she’d like to explore. Amy has made some appearances in The Bay, Gentleman Jack, and Safe. She was best known for her performance as Maddie Heath in Coronation Street.
Newcomer Harry Connor will reprise his role as the youngest child Aaron Lewis. Other characters will also join these lead cast members – Lolly Adefope (Ghosts), Al Roberts (Stath Lets Flats), Morgana Robinson (Taskmaster), and Kadiff Kirwan (Slow Horses) and so on.
Everyone Else Burns is returning for a second series, Morgana Robinson has revealed!
Simon Bird, Kate O’Flynn, Amy James-Kelly, and Harry Connor played members of the Lewis family, members of a puritanical Christian order in Manchester, in the Channel 4 sitcom “Doomsday sect,” which premiered in January.
Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor created it, and in its first week on the channel’s streaming service All 4, it attracted the most viewers of any new comedy box set since Derry Girls in 2018.
This past weekend, Robinson, who portrays Melissa, the Lewis’s next-door neighbour, said on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch that “Everyone Else Burns is incredible, it’s such an epic show.”It’s really clever. We’ve just gotten a second series! “There’s a dash of thriller, spooky kind of, well it’s kind of bizarre. I learned yesterday. It’s incredible.
The first season of the show, which also starred Lolly Adefope, Kadiff Kirwan, Liam Williams, Al Roberts, Soph Galustian, Ali Khan, and Arsher Ali, concluded with Rachel (James-Kelly) giving up her plans to attend college in favour of staying with her family and the Order of the Divine Rod.
Nick Collett (Ghosts) directed and Molly Seymour (Peck’Eds) produced Everyone Else Burns for Jax Media (Peck’Eds) and Universal International Studios (Dodger).

The Telegraph said there was “much to enjoy here” in the mostly favorable reviews. It’s not a comedy that mocks Christianity for cheap laughs. It is a show about family and has a lot of heart, and the jokes are witty and come fast, according to the Guardian. The hyper-religiosity is used to examine family dynamics and dysfunction from a fresh perspective, as well as how oblivious you can become to irregularities if they are all you are familiar with. Mapletoft and Taylor do this without making fun of religion; it’s just all-around very amusing. I have converted.
It was called ‘a tiny thrill’ by The Times, who added that ‘it wouldn’t work half as effectively without Bird’s frenetic energy as David, a pretentious loser narcissist who makes his family practice runs for the end of the world and has the worst pudding bowl haircut in Christendom’. In addition, it is cleverly and sharply worded. It is a courageous comedy that takes on religion, but only a cunning one could do it with this much heart and fun. The rest of the cast is strong.
The first television series Mapletoft and Taylor were commissioned to create was Everyone Else Burns. Before the premiere of Series 1, Mapletoft indicated to the British Comedy Guide at the beginning of the year that they already had plots in mind beyond the first six episodes.
Without a doubt, he added, “We sincerely hope we get to do more.” We always wanted a lot of stories there, as well as this sort of tale-of-the-week approach, as we’ve said. With these personalities, there are so many places we want to travel and so many people we want to learn more about. We sincerely hope to witness that.”
