The fourth season of El Marginal is a much-anticipated Argentine series popularly known for its uniqueness and rawness. This series has three seasons so far comprising 29 episodes.  The first season was released on June 2, 2016, and aired on Netflix on October 7, 2016. The second season was released on July 17, 2018, and aired on Netflix on September 28, 2018, followed by the third season which was released on July 9, 2019, and landed on Netflix on September 27, 2019. 

 

After delivering three successful instalments, fans are now wondering if there’s more to the story of this popular series? Will the story continue in another season? Let’s find out. Here’s what we know about the El Marginal release date and more.

El Marginal: The story so far

In the first season, the ex-policeman Miguel Palacios is imprisoned at San Onofre, under a new identity and a fabricated judicial lawsuit. Miguel’s mission is to enter a criminal group of convicts and jail guards and collect information about the Judge’s daughter who was kidnapped by a group of gangsters. 

 

In season 2 of El Marginal which is a prequel to the first season goes back three years before Miguel entered San Onofre. The Borges brothers namely Mario Borges and Juan Pablo Borges are also brought into San Onofre. They plan to dethrone the head of the jail, El Sapo Quiroga. To accomplish that, they join forces with the Sub-21 gang alongside Patricio Salgado, a physician whose past remains a mystery.

 

Following the third Season, the Borges brothers are assigned to take down Christian Pardo, the son of an influential businessman, who murdered his pal while intoxicated which resulted in a car crash. Meanwhile, Dosito is assigned with a different mission, the sub 21 gang sides with Pantera and Bruni to bring down the Borges brothers.

Is Season 4 of El Marginal happening?

‘El Marginal’ last premiered on Netflix in the US on August 27, 2019, and ever since then, the show makers haven’t officially given us any update.

 

However, it was reported that filming for the fourth instalment will soon come to an end and to which we got some revelations for the upcoming season. It was revealed that the main character from the first season Miguel Palacios aka Pastor played by Juan Minujin will be returning in the fourth season of El Marginal.

 

One of the directors, Alejandro Cancio also shared some pictures on the filming site back in April 2021. In the pictures shared, Minujin and Nicolas Furtado were also included.

 

Furthermore, the giant streamer also shared a video that showed the new prison in Old Bridge, where the story of the third season took place. This shows that El Marginal fourth season is finally gearing up for its return and probably it might arrive by early 2022 or mid-2022 if our prediction is correct.
