After a mind-boggling Cuckoo Season 5, fans are going all crazy awaiting the release of Cuckoo Season 6. The big question remains unanswered – when will it premiere, what prominent faces will we get to see, what will be the storyline?
All of these questions have wreaked havoc and smashed all of our brain cells into smithereens! But don’t you worry, in this post, we’ll cover all that you need to know about Cuckoo Season 6 – from its release date to its plot.
Cuckoo is a British Irish comedy TV show that premiered on BBC Three on Sept 25, 201st. The show is written by Robin French and Keiron Quirke – and was produced by Roughcut television. Cuckoo aired on Netflix in 2016 and was widely loved and appreciated by critics and audiences. To date, it comprises a total of 5 seasons with 33 episodes.
Cuckoo Season 6: When will it be released?
Since there haven’t been any official announcements made by the makers or the cast members, we can’t quite reckon the exact date as to when Cuckoo Season 6 might premiere.
Adhering to the fact that Cuckoo Season 5 aired in 2019, and each season had a gap of a good two years in between, we can expect a similar pattern for the next release as well. The COVID-19 pandemic has also impacted the release dates of myriad TV shows and web series, slowing down TV and film production by a considerable degree. Consequently, it’s safe to say that Cuckoo Season 6 might also be postponed.
As of now, BBC has made no official updates regarding the release of Cuckoo Season 6. However, even if BBC announces the show’s return soon, it might still mean it would take another year for the next season to be written, produced, and filmed. To make an educated guess, we can anticipate Cuckoo Season 6 to be released anywhere around the end of 2022 or later in 2023!
Cuckoo Season 6: Whose Faces will we get to see?
While there have been no revelations in regards to the cast of Cuckoo Season 6 by BBC or previous cast members themselves, we can’t quite reckon whose faces we will potentially get to see. However, there’s a good chance we might get to see similar faces. Greg Davies, Tyger Drew-Honey, Helen Baxendale, Dylan Thompson, Lorna may be seen in the upcoming season. They’ve been a part of all the previous five seasons, so it’s in all probability that the production team would cast them.
Rumours have it that Andie McDowell’s return as Ivy is a tad less probable – as she got committed to a Netflix show, which is currently in the post-production phase. We can also expect to see supporting actors assigned back for the next season with their respective roles. Esther Smith might not return at all. With Smith featuring on the Apple TV and other web series, she may be too full, as of now, to get back to the Cuckoo franchise.
If no replacements/changes are made, the expected cast members would be:
- Greg Davies as Kenneth Thompson
- Tyger Drew-Honey as Dylan Thompson
- Tamla Kari and Esther Smith as Rachel Thompson
- Andy Samberg as Dale Ashbrick
- Kenneth Collard as Steve Chance
- Taylor Lautner as Dale Ashbrick jr.
- Andie McDowell as Ivy Middelfart
- Matt Lacey as Ben
- Lily Frazer as Tash
Cuckoo Season 6: Plot
Season 5 ended in a nail-biter with the election for MP to be announced. This causes a spine chiller as to whether or not Ken would win the seat and Ivy campaign would work out. No announcements regarding the plot have been made by the makers that could resolve the question of the finale.
The new Cuckoo might start with either Ken Thompson, MP for Lichfield, or the character in the doldrums. Rachel’s romantic troubles with her boyfriend Tash as well as Steve’s fixation on Ivy might also be illustrated in the next season.
