Company of Heroes 3 gameplay settings: What to expect?
After battling through the Western and Eastern Fronts, the Company of Heroes is now marching towards the Mediterranean. You better be prepared to fight it out in a campaign set across Italy, and North Africa where you’ll have to conquer territory, get into clashes and fight custom-made battles.
Company of Heroes 3 is set in Italy, as U.S. and British forces attempt to dislodge the ingrained German Armed forces from places such as the Monte Cassino monastery on top of a mountain.
Gameplay
“It’s been a while,” Producer David Littman said. “It was a matter of how to bring back what people love about Company of Heroes but also update our game to make it look best-in-class for today’s games. We don’t even consider ourselves an RTS. We consider it an action-strategy game, and we want to compete with the best in the industry in graphics and what the game feels like and the amazing action we can bring. The Mediterranean theatre itself has more variety than we have ever delivered before, with the beautiful hills of Italy and the deserts of North Africa.”
In the game, you will serve as a general in charge of the whole campaign where you have to utilize your joint arms to kick out the Germans from the shores and firm positions in the towns. You can automatically settle battles between units, or shift into a tactical fight for custody of a key point such as the airport.
Producer David Littman explained that “It’s important to note that we are in early development for all of the factions in the game’s campaign, and for this first public preview of Company of Heroes 3 we focused on the American and British forces. The balance and polish for these two single-player campaign factions in the CoH-Development preview are at a level that allows players to get a good sense of the gameplay direction. There is also a fairly good runway ahead to continue to develop and improve the [Allies] gameplay experience.”
“Compared to the American and British, the German faction as released in the campaign preview is at a polish level that’s acceptable as AI, ” he added. “We hadn’t intended players to test or control the German forces. Having said that it’s still pretty amazing to hear the early feedback! We are excited to reveal more details about the multiplayer and campaign playable factions in the months to come.”
