Many viewers globally experienced an air of nostalgia when Netflix’s workplace comedy series, Blockbuster made its debut on the screens in November 2022. The series follows the story of Timmy, the manager of the last store of the video rental chain, Blockbuster, who fights with all his might to stay afloat. Though things didn’t turn out in favor of Timmy by season one’s finale, fans are left wondering whether there will be a season 2. Keeping in mind the cliffhanger finale, there are plenty of questions that viewers need answers to. How will Timmy receive from the business losses? Or would he even continue the last franchise store or has his spirit finally admitted defeat? We assume that the loose narratives left behind by the inaugural run will form the basis of the future plot development. That said, has Netflix officially announced season two of Blockbuster? To know this and all that needs to be known about season 2 of Blockbuster, keep reading on:
Blockbuster Season 2 Premiere date
With the renewal announcements still pending, our guess is as good as yours at this moment. But if Netflix greenlit the series for another season sooner rather than later, we could see its next batch of episodes sometime in 2023. Looking at its prior release timeline, this assumption seems fair enough.
The first part was filmed in April 2022 and was ready for the screen in less than 8 months. Thus, fans would not be in wait for long as season 2 is concerned.
Typically, Netlfix takes into account the success of any show before commissioning it for more seasons. And it is too early to hear any confirmations or news about a sequel. So, let’s spread the word about BLockbuster among your friend circle and co-workers to have its comeback sure shot.
Blockbuster Season 2 Plotline
Blockbuster Season 2 Possible Storyline
As of now, there is no exact plotline for season two because the Netflix bosses have not yet made any word about their plans for a sequel. But part 1 hints at what the future storyline could be about. Timmy’s dream of drawing people back to the bankrupt Blockbuster almost shatters with the store left in tatters and looted on Black Friday Sale, leaving him to make some tough business choices. Timmy has a sentimental connection with Blockbuster because it is the only place that has ever felt like home for him. Seeing it end in such a way will be one of the most painful moments for him. Though it is not certain yet if Timmy wants to continue with the store after what happened to it. Even if he picks himself up, how is he going to pay for the losses? We have no answer to it yet. But hopefully, the next episodes will provide us with the answers.
If season 2 happens, viewers might see the romance brewing between Timmy and Eliza. Though Eliza’s cheating husband has attempted to reconcile their relationship, it is more likely that Eliza will form a new relationship with Timmy, who has always dreaded commitment following his parents’ failed marriage. But he realized his feelings for Eliza in season one.
One thing is sure there are many stories about not just the leads but also the supporting characters that could be explored in part two. In addition, the driving force behind the show is the value of human connection. Thus, we could expect the creators to deliver another season playing out this theme.
Blockbuster Season 2’s Cast details
We can’t have a season two without our main casts, Randall Park and Melissa Fumero. Viewers have thoroughly enjoyed their on-screen presence. Thus, Park is likely to take on his role as Timmy while Brooklyn Nine-Nine fame Fumero entertains us as Eliza once again. Park and Fumero will likely return for a second season if the show gets renewed. Other likable returns include Tyler Alvarez as Carlos Herrera, Madeleine Arthur as Hannah Hadman, Olga Merediz as Connie Serrano, J. B. Smoove as Percy Scott, and Kamaia Fairburn as Kayla Scott because TBH we loved having them on the screen, it?
Blockbuster is created by Vanessa Ramos, who has been a part of many remarkable shows like Brooklyn Nine-nine. Ramos also serves as the showrunner and EP of the sitcom.
Blockbuster is currently available to stream on Netflix. Binge-watch it in one go or savor it bit by bit depending upon your mood. But make sure to grab a bucket of popcorn and treat yourself well.
