Big Hero 6 made its theatrical release in 2014 and introduced the audiences to the world of Hiro Hamada, a robotics genius and the soft healthcare robot, Baymax developed to help people. To the absolute surprise of the film creators, the movie racked up $657.9 million along with a warm critical reception. It also received numerous awards and accolades to its credit including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Given its popularity and commercial success, the film also got a sequel in the form of a television series that ran for three successful seasons (from 2017-to 2021) before getting a cancelation order in February 2021. The series serves as a continuation of the events of the Big Hero 6 film and sees Hiro and Baymax reuniting with the high-tech superhero team- Go Go Tamago, Lemon Honey, Wasabi, and Fred as they all go on a mission to save their city from a slew of villains. Although fans are earnestly waiting for a follow-up to Big Hero season 6, the creators have not made anything official about it at this moment. With that, is the sequel is really on the cards or is it still some way off? Know all the deets about Big Hero 7 below and get answers to your burning questions:
Is a Big Hero 6 Sequel on its way soon?
Though the follow-up has been in talks for a while, there is no r development on it. Following the debut release of Big Hero 6 back in 2014, Chris Williams gave us a tiny hope when he said in an interview that he loves the characters and he looks forward to working with them again. Williams added that a sequel must have a story that waits to be told to the world. However, Don Hall was not exactly eager when asked about the sequel. Additionally, The lead animator of Big Heroes 6, Zach Parish has sparked hopes in the audiences with their recent words relating to the sequel. He said, “I think there’s still a lot of potential. There’s still plenty of time. The beauty of animation is that can pick up the story at the very end of “Big Hero 6″ or we could jump in time. We could go wherever we want since it’s animation.”
With that in mind, the follow-up is in the early days of discussing and planning, and might not hit the big screen until a couple of years. But fans have a lot to look forward to as a spin series, Baymax is scheduled to premiere soon.
Baymax Has an Official Date of Premiere: Know everything about it
Walt Disney Animation Studios has released an official announcement regarding the spinoff series, Baymax at Disney’s Livestream event. And fans just cannot contain their excitement. Though the animated television series might not be what expected, it still tells the story of a core Big Hero 6 character, Baymax itself. Viewers should not anticipate much of the action drama in the spinoff since viewers will see Baymax working as a healthcare provider in San Fransokyo. Because of the lack of concrete details about the spin-off, it is hard to predict what could it be like. But the good part is the animated series is all set to hit Disney + in mid-2022 and that is not a lot of waiting period.
