Archie Madekwe is all set to star in a new film ‘Gran Turismo’ with David Harbour, Orlando Bloom and many others.
Madekwe is perhaps best known for appearing opposite Jason Momoa as Kofun in the dystopian hit Apple TV plus series “See.” A production of Sony Pictures and PlayStation feature adaptation of the top-selling racing video game.
The film is probably career-changing as it provides the growing actor a major spot in a fairly large studio film that is a huge IP play in an expected franchise. The actor will take over the driver’s seat for the upcoming feature film.
The actor will portray the role of a teen while Harbour is portraying a retired driver who instructs him to steer.
Harbour is recognized for acting as Hopper in Netflix’s massively popular “Stranger Things,” as well as appearing in Marvel’s “Black Widow.” He can be seen next in numerous new movies, including “Violent Night,” “We Have a Ghost,” “Thunderbolts,” and “The Trashers.”
The initial “Gran Turismo” game was originally discharged in 1997 for PlayStation and sold roughly about 10 million copies. The game transformed racing games because of its precise illustrations and lifelike gameplay. The whole game series has seemingly sold more than 80 million copies worldwide. Nevertheless, that digit now could have increased even more due to the point that the statistical data is from April 2018. The most recent game in the series, Gran Turismo 7, was launched this March for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and received favorable reviews.
Neill Blomkamp will helm the feature. The filmmaker is widely known for his science fiction films including “District 9” and “Elysium.” Jason Hall (”American Sniper”) and Zach Baylin (”King Richard”) penned the screenplay.
Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, as well as Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti will serve as producers under PlayStation Productions. Meanwhile, game creator Kazunori Yamauchi along with Hall will be serving as executive producers.
Production commences this September in Europe.
“Turismo” will have a theatrical premiere slated for August 11, 2023.
Madekwe’s “See” recently premiered its third season this August. He also portrayed Simon with Florence Pugh in the 2019 film “Midsommar” directed by Ari Aster. Some of his other works include, “Teen Spirit” starring Elle Fanning and BBC’s “Les Misérables.”
His upcoming projects include starring along with Barry Keoghan Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant in the upcoming Emerald Fennell’s feature “Saltburn.”
