Created by James Giddens along with Will Packer, “Ambitions” is an American TV series being produced by Lionsgate Television also with Will Packer Productions. The series stars Robin Givens, Brian J. White, Kendrick Cross, Brely Evans, Erica Page, and Essence Atkins.
The series made its debut on June 18, 2019, on the Oprah Winfrey Network while the second part of the first season was launched on the OWN network on November 12, 2019.
Upon release, “Ambitions” was well received by both the audience and critics, and to this day fans are wondering why a second season hasn’t been released despite its huge success. Well, let’s find out in detail below.
Will there be a Season 2 of Ambitions?
It’s been more than two years since the last episode aired and devotees of the show are anxiously awaiting a second run to provide them a satisfying closure for the series but sadly, they will have to make up their story because the show is dismissed.
It was officially announced back in January 2020 that OWN canceled the series after the first season which consisted of eighteen episodes. So as much as we’re saddened to learn the news, it’s even more disappointing that an incredible show like Ambitions has come to an end.
Is Ambitions Season 2 Canceled?
Unfortunately, yes. Ambitions was canceled after one season.
“We’re thankful to Will Packer, Jamey Giddens, and the entire cast and crew of Ambitions for their creativity and hard work on the show. Every week they delivered great drama, intrigue, and a lot of fun storytelling,” states Tina Perry, head of OWN. “We look forward to continuing working with Will Packer and his talented team of collaborators in the future.”
Star Robin Givens also expressed her disappointment on Instagram that reads:
”Found out last week that Ambitions wouldn’t be returning for a second season,” Givens wrote, along with a sad emojis.
Showrunner, Jamey Giddens, also shared on his Twitter handle to confirm the show’s dismissal.
“So this happened… #Ambitions was such a joy to create. I am forever grateful to @willpowerpacker and @LionsgateTV for the incredible opportunity to tell a fun, decadent story showing that tales about black and brown people don’t have to be steeped in pathos & tragedy,” he wrote.
One fan asked why the series came to an end, to which Giddens replied with the following statement:
“Our show was the #1 show in black households for our time slot across broadcasting and cable and more than doubled the viewership of a more “critically acclaimed” and quickly renewed show on the network. Your guess is as good as mine.”
OWN chose to renew “David Makes Man” and not “Ambitions” which had poorer overall ratings than the latter.
Will Ambitions Season 2 ever happen?
No. It appears that season 2 of Ambitions will not happen in the future as it was canceled. As of June 2022, season 2 has not been renewed or planned. The series remains canceled and we doubt that a second season will ever occur.

Last Words
It’s a real bummer the series has been discontinued. There was plenty of potentials for the series to grow, not just in terms of the plot but the performance of the actors as well. Season 1 of Ambitions is available on Amazon Instant Video and Vudu.
