According to TVLine, series creator DJ Nash is framing the show’s impending season 5 as its final outing.
Season 5 of ‘A Million Little Things‘ was renewed in May 2021. The fourth season which aired from September 22 to May 8, 2022, finished off with a jim-dandy of a cliffhanger entangling Gary Mendez (James Roday Rodriguez) in a life-threatening cancer-battling condition.

“There’s no question we were a bubble show,” DJ Nash confessed to the media outlet, TVLine at the time. “But everybody creatively at ABC was so supportive and wanted to see [a fifth season] happen. And we knew that if it didn’t happen, our fans would be like, “You can’t end a series like that!”
Indeed the fourth season’s finale cliffhanger intrigued many fans and are looking forward to how things will go down in the upcoming final season. Gary, who now battles cancer, is keeping a secret about the baby that Maggie (Allison Miller) is carrying. Fans seem to be greatly interested to find out how the relationship between Maggie and Gary will stretch out but at the same time we hope all the unanswered questions will be answered in the fifth season bringing the series to a satisfactory closure.

What Can We Expect From Season 5 of A Million Things?
As far as the characters are concerned and where they’re heading next, showrunner Nash formerly dropped hints on what fans can anticipate in the fifth and final season of A Million Little Things. Following the finale of the fourth season, he informed TV Insider, “Seeing Gary and Maggie switch roles from the one we saw in the first season, where now it’s Maggie helping Gary through this, will be really telling and challenging for their relationship.”
Nash further pointed out that, “Some of the mystery that we will follow in season five has already been planted and you may not even be aware of it yet, and some of it unfolds as the season progresses. We certainly are dealing with a lot of unresolved things.”
