Summer is just around the corner (sort of) and you know what that means…

We were privileged to cover the Ottawa Bluesfest for a FOURTH consecutive year in 2015 and cannot wait for what executive director, Mark Monahan, has in store for us this summer!

The Bluesfest will be held this year from July 7th-17th, in it’s usual location, LeBreton Flats. The official lineup is scheduled to be released Tuesday (February 23rd). Visit us tomorrow for all the details!

The pre-sale for tickets will start Thursday (February 25th) at 10 am and regular on-sale starts on Friday (February 26th).

Rumoured Lineup

The Ottawa Bluesfest team has been posting clues on their various social media channels over the past few days leading up to the final lineup unveil on February 23rd.

The first day of clues (February 19th) were all for the same artist, and it looks like the detectives on Facebook have solved this one for us. It is important to note Fall Out Boy is currently touring with AWOLNATION, and could potentially join them at the Bluesfest this summer.

The second day of clues (February 20th) were on Snapchat. This snap below in particular, and the other teasers posted, point to Magnus August Høiberg aka Cashmere Cat, a Norwegian DJ who has worked with Ariana Grande.

With the final day of clues, it would lead me to believe that the last teased artist may potentially be a major headliner.

The WAYHOME Music Festival in Oro Medonte, Ontario (July 22-24th) has Arcade Fire. Initially I was leaning towards them… but Sia does have a song called “Fire Meet Gasoline”.

This Tiger Woods clue however leads me to believe that Sia will be playing at the 2016 Ottawa Bluesfest. Sia is featured on the song “Titanium” with David Guetta and the lyrics include:

I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won’t fall
I am titanium

The “fire away, fire away” line points to the first clue, and the “I am titanium” portion possibly could be referring to Wood’s own titanium driver line.

Arcade Fire

Jeanne d’Arc translated in English to “Joan of Arc” is a song by Arcade Fire, from their 4th album “Reflektor” (2013).

Red Hot Chili Peppers

For the moment, we know the Red Hot Chili Peppers are performing in Quebec City at the Festival d’Été de Québec on Saturday, July 16, joining previously announced FEQ headliners Sting and Peter Gabriel, on the historical Plains of Abraham.

Considering the Ottawa Bluesfest begins on July 7th, I would say there is a very strong chance that the RHCP swing by and become one of the headliners this year.

Rock The Park Artists

In 2016, Rock the Park Music Festival in London, Ontario will take place on July 13th-16th, a few days before the Ottawa Bluesfest. To continue on with its tradition as being one of the most anticipated outdoor summer festivals in Canada, their lineup includes: Brad Paisley, Dallas Smith, Tim Hicks, Jake Owen, City and Colour, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros & AWOLNATION.

Pitchfork Music Festival Artists

The Pitchfork Music Festival this year in Chicago takes place in the days leading up to the Ottawa Bluesfest, from July 15th-17th. Pitchfork MF headliners include Mick JenkinsTwin Peaks, Sufjan StevensAnderson .PaakFKA TwigsPorches, Jeremih & Miguel.

Cavendish Beach Music Festival Artists

The Cavendish Beach Music Festival in Prince Edward Island this year is being held from July 8th-10th. Headliners include The Band Perry, Blake Shelton & Dean Brody.
