What is E3?

E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is an annual convention where the hottest video games of the year are shown. E3 2014 is being held June 10-12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Press conferences for Microsoft, Sony, Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft will be held June 9. IGN Live will be broadcasting from the show with the E3 2014 press conferences, including interviews and demos with game developers.

Microsoft Preview

Halo 5: Guardians will most likely introduced. We won’t see any gameplay but a teaser trailer hinting at what the story may be about. Microsoft will talk about their Halo TV project(s) and, if rumors are to be believed, a Halo 1-4 collection for Xbox One.

Forza Horizon 2

Will be one of their bigger titles for this Fall. That much is known, and there’s probably not a lot about it that will be terribly surprising.

Sunset Overdrive

I expect them to make a pretty big deal about this game, a colorful open-world Xbox One exclusive from Insomniac Games. It may end up being their biggest third-party exclusive this holiday season.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Will be a centerpiece of the press conference, with some exclusive map DLC announced for Xbox platforms. They might even trot out Kevin Spacey, who plays the game’s villain, just to add some star power to the show.

Fable Legends

They’ll talk about this one  because … well it’s Fable. It’s a solid franchise for Microsoft, and an Xbox One entry will be exciting for a majority of people.

Quantum Break

They may show a teaser from Remedy Entertainment for this one, but we already know that it is set to have a major presence at Gamescom in Germany in a few months. Most content will probably be saved for that.

Gears of War

I can see them ending the conference with a SMALL hint at a new GOW game for the Xbox One. Yes please!

Sony Preview

Project Morpheus

Their Virtual Reality headset that is still in the beta testing phases. Most likely to be limited to big talk and simple tech demos, but they will at least trot it out.

They announced the game when they announced the PS4, but it missed the system’s launch. Announced as now having an 7 October 2014 release date in North America, 8 October in Europe and 10 October in the UK.

Project Beast

Successor to the cult hit Demon’s Souls (and, by extension, Dark Souls). A lot of screens and even footage has leaked, and the Sony press conference seems like the most likely candidate for its official unveiling.

Assassin’s Creed

A common guest at Sony press conferences. We will have already had our first look of Assassin’s Creed Unity had Ubisoft’s press conference, but they’ll at least glance at it again, saying how it’s “better on PS4″ when it most likely isn’t.

Vita Games

Very little talk about them, will be emphasized as a great PS4 accessory thanks to remote play. A PS4 and Vita bundle will probably be announced.

Uncharted 4

I can see them ending the conference with a small teaser, I doubt any gameplay will be shown though.

Nintendo Preview

Super Smash Bros.

Releasing in Q3 2014 and the Wii U version releasing in Q4 2014, some gameplay could be shown as well as some character unveils.

Pokemon Snap 2

Pokémon Snap was a beloved, though forgotten gem of gaming that couldn’t reach its true potential due to the limits of the N64. I think it’s time to make a new Pokémon Snap that utilizes the Wii U’s tablet controller and camera.

I can see a new Zelda title for the Wii U to be hinted at, but I doubt they show any gameplay. Most likely a small teaser trailer, similar to GOW and Uncharted 4.

Big Shakeup?

Everybody knows that Nintendo has taken the back seat to Microsoft and Sony for the past few years, could they shock us and introduce a brand new product?

They need to if they want to stay a float in the marketplace, that’s for sure.
