It’s that time of year again!!!!!!!

The music festival season is my favourite part of year by far, and it isn’t even close. It has actually been the coldest winter in Ottawa in 20 years and THANKFULLY summer is coming. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Ottawa Bluesfest and according to this article in the Ottawa Sun – founder, Mark Monahan, has been extra busy attending more festivals than usual in hopes that he can land some big time names.

Update: March 25th 2014

Today they announced the following acts would be playing at the Bluesfest ahead of the official schedule launch: Tyler, The Creator, Tokyo Police Club, Lady Antebellum, Tegan and Sara, Adventure Club, Danny Brown, Childish Gambino, Mac DeMarco, St.Vincent, RL Grime, Foreigner.

Outkast – Looks like they are doing almost every festival out there so I wouldn’t be surprised if Bluesfest could land them.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – According to the March 20th clue here, could be hinting at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and their new album Mosquito?

Foreigner, Styx and Jimmy Buffet – All touring through northern New York in early July and fit the Fest’s demographic audience and budget. Clue on March 18th strongly points to Foreigner playing at the Bluesfest as well with the “Jukebox Hero” reference. Supposedly, Foreigner T-shirts have their 2014 summer tour sites and dates listed and Ottawa is July 8.

Beck – Plays in NY a few days leading up to the start of Bluesfest and does not play again until the 18th, right after Bluesfest ends in Kentucky. Seems like a short trip over to the nation’s capital is highly doable.

The Killers – This clue seems to perfectly lineup with them playing at the Bluesfest. Also noted that The Killers are also going to the Bell Center in Montreal July 10th, so this would make sense.

Blink 182, Sly and the Family Stone – Will be in attendance based on the first two days of clues, still speculation though – not 100% clear.

St. Vincent/Half Moon Run – Both highly expected to be at Bluesfest. Half Moon Run are local and have teased their fans about “not being able to announce some fest shows yet”.

Gary Clark Jr., Sam Roberts Band, Gogol Bordello, Jenny Lewis and Steve Earle, Neutral Milk Hotel, the Violent Femmes, Gaslight Anthem and Hollerado – Many have pointed out that the Toronto Urban Roots Festival is running at the same time as this year’s Fest. Headliners for TURF include those listed in bold above. Expect most of these acts to make Bluesfest.

Lady Antebellum – As good as confirmed (several confirmed sightings on their website indicated an Ottawa date for July 6).
