Wikipedia Blackout

If you have tried to go on Wikipedia to do research for a school project or check what Justin Bieber’s middle name is, then you know that Wiki is on a protest. This means all functions of the site have been shut down for the day. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) are landing in the U.S. Senate next week and a online protest has begun. The two bills intend to stop online piracy and protect copyright holders, however, critics claim they infringe upon creativity,Read More

Alcatraz TV Show

Last night premiered a new show on Fox called Alcatraz from the same creators who made the hit TV show Lost. The show proceeds from the premise that when Alcatraz was closed in 1963, its prisoners and personnel weren’t transferred — they disappeared, and some of them are popping up in the present. This provides work for a cop, Rebecca (Sarah Jones), who, along with an Alcatraz historian (Garcia), become part of a “task force” overseen by a mysterious man presenting himself as a federal agent, Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill).Read More

Montreal Canadiens – The Circus

Where do I even begin with the Montreal Canadiens? I’ll put it in the most appropriate words for the Nilsen Report rated PG audience. I strongly dislike them. Better yet I despise them. To start, how they fill up Scotiabank Place when they visit Ottawa and shout their annoying chants. The majority of their fans act so cocky because they have won all of these Stanley Cups before they were even born. Congrats! My “dislike” for the Canadiens also goes back to playing against Montreal supporters in NHL 12. ForRead More

Senators Full of Surprise

What a season it’s been for the Ottawa Senators. Starting out with a record of 1-5, I wrote a Nail Yakupov prospect article to keep my sanity. No longer is Nail worth the time fantasizing over. Who the Senators will play in the first round of the playoffs is what I’m wondering. I may be in dream land but so what, as an avid Senators fan this is natural. Through 44 games the Sens sit with a record of 23 wins, 15 losses and 6 overtime/shootout losses. This puts themRead More

Mayweather finally wants Pacquiao fight

Lets get ready to rumble! Well maybe. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has taken his quest for a fight with Manny Pacquiao to Twitter. The unbeaten Mayweather called out the Filipino superstar on Tuesday, daring Pacquiao to meet him May 5 in Las Vegas. “Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out let’s fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see,” Mayweather tweeted. Now does this mean that there will be a fight for sure on this date? Of course not. In the sport of boxing there are always tons ofRead More

Andrea the All-Star

In grade 8 I remember getting a Andrea Bargnani jersey for my birthday and wearing it on the first day of school. People thought I was absurd for wanting this guys jersey. Ever since the Raptors drafted him first overall in 2005, people have been bashing him. Having Andrea compared to Dirk Nowitizki was one of the only things that kept Raptors fans from losing their minds. He was horrible on the defensive end and for a guy who was a 7 footer, he hardly got any rebounds. In hisRead More

Day of Miracles

Wow. I’m still speechless after what I have seen in the world of sports today. I’d like to give myself a pat on the back for successfully going 3-0 against the spread and money line. Didn’t think it would happen but that’s a miracle in itself. Firstly, the Ottawa Senators scored four unanswered goals in the third period against the Philadelphia Flyers to win 6-4. Notching them 3 points in the best of two series while the Flyers only got 2 points. Ottawa’s trailed after two periods in twenty games.Read More

NHL All-Star 2012 Voting Results

This morning it was announced that Ottawa Senators players Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek and Erik Karlsson all made the starting lineup for this years NHL All-Star game. As a Ottawa Senators fan I should be ecstatic about this right? My favourite team apparently has four “All-Star” calibre players. Too bad this isn’t actually the case. Over the past month, the Ottawa Senators organization has been running a campaign to vote for it’s players into the All-Star game hosted in the nations capital. Realistically however, the Senators only have one playerRead More

NHL All-Star Game 2012 Event Guide

It’s almost that time of year again where all of the NHL superstars come together to take part in the NHL All-Star game. Most years I could care less about this event. The game in itself is actually not that entertaining. The players don’t hit each other because they don’t want to risk injury, which is understood due to the concussion crisis going on. However the score ends up being something ridiculous like 15-13 which just makes the game lose it’s value. In the MLB they actually make the All-Star game worth something. TheRead More
